Maybe we should start shaming the lazy Broadlands homeowners, you know - the ones who NEVER secure their trash or recyclables. It takes the same amount of time to secure trash as it takes to make it. Once again, our woods are littered with boxes and all manner of trash.

Kudos to Patriot's recycling truck team. They did their best to pick up some of the recyclables that were flying around.

...which many times are the ones who don't help clean up the mess.

Trudged into the storm drain and wetlands and collected 6 un-flattened boxes, an air filled plastic bag full of recyclables, lots of mail (with complete addresses,) loose plastic containers and tin cans. Patriot came by as I was finishing and they were being followed by a white truck (supervisor maybe?)

Yes, Patriot does their best but they should not have to chase down trash because people are too lazy to secure it.

Picked up flying debris for most of our street this morning, just to run out to the store and have a glass jelly jar that I didn't see explode under my tire in my driveway when I returned. Off to get my tires checked....grrrrrrr.

There was a lot of large, unflattened boxes blowing down my street this morning and into people's yards. I managed to get a few of them and flatten them, but there was still a lot blowing around.

I agree people can do better but up on Highview Trail the bins were all blown over. The wind was extremely strong today and even those that secured their trash were having issues. I reduced my trash to just the heavier items and didn't put my recycling out because of it.

The wind is picking up today and trash pickup is tomorrow. I am amazed that several neighbors are putting out their bins at the curb now, early in the afternoon and while the wind is blowing.

The wind was rediculously strong on that day! My neightbor had 3 trash/recycle wheelies in his yard, not to mention trash. There are definitely individuals who put zero effort into securing their trash, but Thursday was a day that defied even careful preparation.

And the only way trash could have been secured last week was to put cinder blocks on the bins. I don't think anyone was prepared for that level of wind.

Our neighborhood was bad as well, but we turn it into sort of a community service project. My kids and others who volunteer help me gather as much as possible so the neighborhood gets cleaned up and they might learn a little something.

This altruistic, holiday-spirit, do-gooding is not nearly as entertaining as the sanctimonious neighbor-shaming. *sarcasm*
