Greetings! My family moved into the area (SW), recently, and we're having some serious issues with our mail carrier. We've been putting up with this for quite some time, and while I wouldn't wish this kind of nonsense on my lovely neighbors, I'm hoping there are others that are as frustrated as I am (because I refuse to believe this guy is just picking on my house).

Basically, this guy seems to revel in trying to destroy our packages. Now that I think about it, I'm not entirely sure it's the same guy, every time, but it's always an older male wearing a turban. Anyway, this dude has been tossing packages onto our steps since we moved in, last June. I first suspected something was amiss when I noticed some of our boxes had more scratches/dents than usual. When one of the items was broken, I knew something was definitely going on. But, it wasn't until I was out in the yard and heard the sound of a box bouncing on a neighbor's porch that I realized it was our carrier, and not the sorting facility that was breaking things.

As soon as I heard the neighbors box being dribbled to their door, I ran in the house and grabbed my camera. Thanks to my privacy film (you can't see inside my front door), I was able to record him tossing a package onto the stoop without him seeing me. A few weeks later, I was able to record another one. Periodically, I would watch him do it, but was unable to get video. I now have a security system in place that's been recording and storing each and every air delivery this guy makes.

When I realized how bad it was, my hope was to compile enough evidence to have him fired/transferred. The way I see it, the last person you want pissed off at you (other than your waiter/chef) is the guy delivering your mail, so I didn't want to just report him and have him get a slap on the wrist.

So, if you live in the area, and you suspect some of your packages might not be getting the care they deserve, you're not alone. Please, let me know if you have any videos, and be on the lookout (set up your camera!), because this dude is way too nonchalant about this to not be doing it to everyone. Once I have an irrefutable and indefensible collection of videos, I'll figure out where to go with them (news, social media, USPS, etc.).

    Cheers!

This is my mailman too. I'll have to keep an eye out. I have Amazon prime and get a huge amount of packages delivered.

Exactly! Since creating this post, I have two more videos. I love how he wings my vinyl albums as if he's practicing for ultimate frisbee.

Hayes - that's exactly what I'm talking about. If you have dropbox, put up all your videos into a folder and I can start to combine them. If you need a dropbox invite (it's free), let me know.

    Thanks!

Years ago I actually called and talked to the Postmaster and complained (might have even been the same guy)... and he said he would deal with him. I did see improvements in the service... but that was years ago and we have someone different now.

It's worth noting: for the last few days, I've seen a completely different driver. It's also worth noting that this other driver not only delivered a package without throwing it, he walked ALL THE WAY up my steps and placed it gently against the door. A sign of things to come?!?

Geesh, you could not open the door and ask him to stop dropping your packages, or tell him you have it on video? Or, just open the door and let him hand it off and thank him? You were right there on the other side of the door.

We have a new mail delivery person and he has been fine up until last week. We had requested a hold mail delivery notice as we were on vacation. The collected mail was suppose to be delivered today but when we got home on Saturday I decided to check the mailbox just in case and what did I find was mail that was jammed, folded, bent and otherwise shoved into the mailbox. Fortunately, the recent college graduate's diploma was not damaged. I'm going to to talk to the mail delivery person today to see if he even received the hold mail notice and then complain to the Postmaster. I miss our former mail delivery person as we had her for almost 17 years and she would always delivery the hold mail on the correct date in plastic bags to us and up to our door. This guy always seems in a rush and could care less if he does a good job. I'm not relying on hold mail anymore.

This matches the pattern we have seen over the past 2-3 years when held mail is delivered. I am sure they received the hold mail notice, and when it came time for it to be delivered, if it fit in your mail box, they would have stuffed it. Of late, I think they dont like leaving it at your door, for complaints of it getting stolen.

I spoke to the mail delivery person yesterday if he received the stop mail request and he said no. He said he still had two days of mail at the processing center for us that needed to be delivered. I went to the processing center and spoke to the "Manager" for lack of a better term and she stated that they had problems with the electronic requests for stop mail and that they were no notified last week. After waiting and receiving the mail at the processing center, I have come to the conclusion that the post office is now the "new" DMV. A place you don't want to visit as you know if will be painful. Maybe Amazon will take over the USPS.
