The Vulture Menace

    I got a call back from Dave at the USDA and he said the only way to get rid of the vultures is to harass them. He said to secure garbage otherwise they will keep coming back. The black vultures are more aggressive and they actually hunt vulnerable or sick animals unlike the Turkey vultures which are strictly scavengers. So, what now...

    for sure they don't leave on their own. I preferred the water balloons... but on a 3 story TH that is tougher than you might think. Maybe the slingshot variety :)

    Luckily, they are not roosting in the area which explains the late arrivals and some days they don't show up at all or maybe they do when I'm at work.

    Last year I found a green laser pointer worked great to scare them out of the tree tops. The motion of the pointer seemed to get them to fly away (first I tried pointing directly at them and holding still, they didn't budge). Obviously, be mindful of passing aircraft as you don't want to blind pilots and/or get in trouble for pointing lasers at aircraft.
