Hi - was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for a good women's hairdresser in the Ashburn/Leesburg area that doesn't break the bank! I'm don't want Hair Cuttery or anything like that either. I used to go to Bristles and Shears - but had a bad experience there lately and am looking for a new place. The Radiance in Broadlands is outrageous. I was quoted $60.00 for a haircut. That was with a senior hairdresser. I don't mind spending $35-$45 - $60.00 is a bit out of range, especially if I want highlights or color. [:0]

I actually just switched to Radiance as I do like the convenience and they do do a great job. However prior to switching I was going to "Scarlet O'Hairas" in Sterling. It is right off of Route 7 in the same shopping center as Foodland. They also do a good job. But it does seem like the average prices these days are at least $60 and up.

A neighbor commented that she went to the barber at the Broadlands shopping center by Safeway. (the barber were most of the stylists are Korean). She was happy with the service and I believe it was less than $40.

Hi! I can't really help you in the $ department, however Sherry from Eclips really does a great job on my hair. She does my highlights and I always get compliments on how good they turned out. It is expensive though, $50-$60 for the cut and at least $150 for the highlight. I often trim my own hair in between cuts to make it last a bit longer.

I used to go to Bristles and Shears too, but I always wound up waiting for an hour and the cut was not all that great.

Another thumbs up for Radiance. I went yesterday and got a great haircut. Sat down with the stylist before he washed my hair and talked about what I wanted and what he felt would be good for my hair. (i have a very thick mane of hair.) I will definitely go back there.

I go to Cloud 9 in Leesburg. Jennifer is my hairdresser and she is awesome. Their number is 703-669-8000. I've never had someone who spends so much time with me. Also, I get my hair colored and one of my pet peeves is when I'm waiting under the dryer and my hairdresser squeezes in another appointment. I know I'm not supposed to spend an hour with the color stuff in my hair.:( Jennifer doesn't do that, she focuses just on you.:)

Junior stylists are usually a little less and most of the time they do a great job (they have to prove themselves more). I used to go to Charlie at Le Shoppe in Reston Town Center. She's great, and it was $40 for a cut. I recently went to Erin at Radiance and loved her.

Sarasmom - who does your hair at Radiance? I am very picky with my hair as I have thick curly hair as well. I'm also looking for convenience too. I'd love to stay in Ashburn. BUT - I do think Ashburn charges more for services not only in salons, but everything. I tend to splurge with my hair - I like coloring and highlights - but because my hair grows so darn fast - I have to have it cut every 5 or six weeks.....that adds up.

Tyger, Mickey is the one that cut my hair. He did a wonderful job and I will definitely be going back to him in about 6 weeks. Good luck finding someone you like! :)

Another thumbs up for Radiance here. I go to Elizabeth. She was at Eclips when I first used her, then worked on the opening of Salon Bleu in Tysons (now THAT's expensive - no chance I went there). I was really happy when she returned to Ashburn. I also have curly hair and she does a great job. One thing -- I get an AOL employee discount. It's possible they have other discounts available. You may want to inquire.

Joy - Yes - I used to go to Elizabeth when she was at Bristles & Shears, then followed her to Eclips in the Village - when she went to Tysons - yes - I decided that was WAY to expensive - plus not convenient. I work at AOL and wasn't aware I could get a discount at Radiance. I could at Eclips. That's good to know - I'll definitely want to go back to her at Radiance.

I go to Stephanie at Eclips for my cuts/highlights and LOVE the job she does... but beware - Eclips will not allow you to charge tips to your CC, they're cash-only. I've had to do the "walk of shame" to the ATM on more than one occasion to get $ for the tip, that policy is almost enough to make me switch to Radiance!

That's definitely not good. I very rarely have much cash in my wallet - I use my debit card. When I used to go to Eclips - I could add my tip to the CC -so they must have changed their policy.

I also use Stephanie at Eclips. Love her! Though, the past two highlights I've gone back to my old hairdresser in Georgetown who I LOVE LOVE LOVE because he just opened his own shop and I want to support him.

What is the deal with the tips on credit cards? Suddenly, no one lets you do it anymore. They say that it has something to do with tax laws, but frankly, I just think they say that so that you give them untraceable cash! Any accountants or attorneys out there know why this changed? I'm shocked to hear Radiance still lets you do it. Even my $10 nail salon visit won't allow it.

Speaking of Radiance, I was so surprised that when I made my first appointment there they wanted me to give my credit card number in advance to hold my appointment!!!! Anyone aware of other salons having this practice?
