For those of you building a PC, expanding your network or needing a new hard drive for whatever... here is some really helpful information courtesy of Backblaze. I use them for cloud backup and get an annual report from them about the latest failure rates of drives. Use if helpful...

Thanks for adding that, good idea. I have been very impressed with their service and performance, works great for what I needed. Had a hard drive failure recently so this was relevant for me. Had Carbonite a few years back and luckily found Backblaze... so much better.

Also, as a separate public service... if any of you are struggling with old MiniDV or Hi8 video tapes let me know. Having gone through the fun of getting them captured to computer recently I can say that it is not as easy as it used to be. And if you look to pay for this service it is typically $10-15 per tape for conversion. The longer you wait, the more difficult it becomes with Windows etc.
