Hi all - I have two ~10x10 inch patches to paint on my ceiling and I'm trying to track down the original paint/color the builders used. I've looked over old posts and found some said it was McCormick-Moon Mist. While others said Duron-Metro Shell White. Does anyone have any other info or an old can laying around they'd be willing to share as a sample?

I tried paint matching at Home Depot last time and ended up having to paint the entire ceiling b/c it wasn't a close enough match.

Our house is in Southern Walk and Van Metre used Moon Mist. I think Home Depot even has the color in their computer and it's quite close. There is a McCormick Paints out off 50 that you can go right to the source for. Their paint's don't last long in the can though so only buy what you need.

I'm in a townhouse off Demott Dr that was built in 1995 and the ceiling is painted with Duron Metro Shell White. Sherwin-Williams bought Duron in 2004 and they have a recipe that matches the Duron Metro Shell White that local contractors have used without much negative feedback. I ended up buying a gallon for touch-ups and it matches pretty dang well. Lemme know if you want a picture of the mixture label or sample.

If you use a piece of sandpaper to collect some paint from your ceiling, that can be used by Home Depot, or wherever, to match your actual color. They usually only need about the size of a quarter.

If you're still looking, I'll look if we still have some. Sounds like you don't need much?? (Moonmist)

Ha - been a busy summer so I haven’t taken the trip to the paint store yet. If you do happen to have some moonmist laying around that you wouldn’t mind sharing that’d be awesome. I don’t need much at all. If not, no worries. I’ll make my way to the paint store once football season starts.

Moon Mist from McCormick Paints. It only comes in 5 gallon buckets for ~$80. I have about 3 gallons left.

I've got it in gallon and quarts. Bought it a while back tho directly from McCormick off 50.

Sherwin-Williams by the ice rink has moon mist in their database and can mix up some as well. Our painters just did that for our basement ceiling. Much nicer paint too
