Looking for recommendations for a contractor for basement water leak assessment/repair. Moved into our home about 7 weeks ago and have experienced basement leaking/flooding for both heavy rains. Seems to be coming in through cracks where the wall meets the floor, but should note the flooding is near our sump pump. Would appreciate any recommendations and/or similar experiences with this problem. Thanks!

Hey, I don't have a recommendation but you should first address the source of the problem (rain water) to resolve the issue. Applying waterproofing to the cracks will not resolve the problem long term. I dealt with similar issue last spring. You probably have poor grading towards your house, not away is it should. The grading issue could be imperceptibly small (water will find it!). Check to make sure your gutters are working and not overflowing and the downspouts discharge the water several feet from the foundation (and then that discharged water is not flowing back to the house due to poor grading). Also check to see that the sump pump discharge is also several feet from the house. Best thing to do is go outside during the next rainstorm and see where the water is flowing. In my case I only found my grading issue by doing this, there was an unnoticeable valley that channeled water in my backyard lawn towards a corner of our foundation. A few bags of dirt and few hours of work resolved our issue, knock on wood. Good luck!

Thanks @techeng01! I am planning to put down some dirt/soil to help fill in cracks and improve the grading along the foundation (I've read that clay soil is great for this purpose), so hoping that will help to fix the issue.

I used Braddock Construction for my foundation waterproofing. We just moved in this summer and a water leak was found during the inspection. Braddock was about half the price of other quotes to excavate and seal the foundation from the outside. When they were done, you would have never known they were there.
