    From the VDOT website "Vehicle registrations that expire in March and April are extended for 60 days." Here's the webpage with that information;
    https://www.dmv.virginia.gov/general/#covid19.asp

    Hopefully, nobody will be towed or fined by the HOA for expired plates during that 60 day window.

    I think the number of towed vehicles by the HOA for that offense will remain the same......somewhere around zero.

    Two questions- 1) vehicles parked on HOA roadways who have expired registrations (several months, not within parameters of the VDOT order) would not get towed? 2) HOA generally never tows?

    There should not be the excuse that the DMV customer service center is closed, which it is until at least May 11, because vehicle registration can be performed online or by mail. Additionally, the DMV customer service centers were open in 2019 when some of the registrations I have seen expired.

    The HOA tows a few vehicles per year for expired inspections and registrations. We follow our parking resolution and place warnings on the vehicles before towing. Due to COVID19, we are suspending most the enforcement of most violations.

    Besides expired registrations (which the extensions are expiring), there are a number of expired (and a failed) vehicle safety inspections parked on the neighborhood streets. I don't see anything on the VA DMV website that says that safety inspection due dates are currently extended.
