Over the last 10 years I’ve had no issues in the backyard but after this winter I’ve had 3 out of 4 cypress die and also my Azaleas as well as some other threes- any suggestions on how I can figure out what is going on?
On the image below- that is what the cypress looked like and it spread to the others and now spreading to azaleas- can’t find any bugs

our evergreens have been dying like crazy as well. The company that came out to deal with them said there is something going around killing them from the roots. Ours were about 15 years old. One has survived but it's just barely holding on.

Yea that is exactly what happened to 2 of my large Arborvitae this winter. I have a row of them planted since 2006. Great every year and then all of a sudden this winter one of them turns brown rather quickly... then it seems to spread to the next 2 at varying levels.

I tried to research... read about winter blight and moisture levels but really I have no clue. Fungus of some kind? I am worried that it will spread so I trimmed in an attempt to stop the spread. I put some fertilizer spikes down this past weekend.

Any horticulturists is the neighborhood want a challenge? What happened this past winter that was so different? Too wet?

Same issue here, one tree has died. It seems like a lot of conifers belonging to the HOA along Croson Lane are dying, I asked the HOA lawn maintenance company and they said they dont care for the trees. It seems to be a fungus and they need to be treated.

Any idea on a possible treatment? Does it help to trim away the brown/dead branches? Guessing moisture levels may be a contributing factor...

I'll let you know in a few months. We had our one surviving one trimmed and cleaned up but it looks rough. Really hoping it comes back. This one did not have the death starting from the base. The other two were dying from the center trunks.

I will post a picture of mine... but I trimmed 2 of mine. One seems like the main trunk is 80% dead but it does have another smaller trunk that is doing well. Another is around 40% dead. Things seem to have dried out a little better for me... hoping that helps.

I wanted to bring this discussion back. Our problems are getting worse and the issues are happening to more trees. Yellowing of the leaves, thinning branches and I am not sure what to do. Did you learn any more, how are your trees doing? Any recommendations on who I can contact for help?

not good, Our last one is dying from the inside. We had the guys that took out the fully dead ones clean it up as best as they could. I think it is gonna have to come out. I tried some Miracle-Gro Tree & Shrub Plant Food Spikes but they really didn't help much. It looked like around mid summer it may come back as there was some new growth but now it's just dying.

We have four Leland Cypress trees along our perimeter which are dying from the inside-out. We had Growing Earth Tree Care come out and look at them, and their Arborist diagnosed them with Seiridium Canker. He said it's a near-guarantee that Leland's will get this disease in our area, as it's endemic to the soil, and that after 15 years or so they basically start dying, some earlier. There's no cure and treatment will only delay the inevitable since it's so pervasive in our soil. We were considering removing these anyway since they're so overgrown, and this just sealed our decision.
