I'm getting some conflicting information about what is and is not allowed for recycling, so I'm hoping that someone has a definitive answer.

I read either here or on a local Facebook group that glass is no longer allowed in regular recycling bins and that you have to bring it to a purple bin (https://www.loudoun.gov/CivicAlerts.aspx?AID=6344). However, our HOA page about trash and recycling still says it's acceptable for weekly pick-up (https://www.broadlandshoa.org/for-residents/trash-and-recycling/). The Patriot website (https://www.patriotdisposalservices.com/recycling-1) only references glass no longer being recycled in Fairfax and Prince William counties. Does anyone know which is correct?

Some time ago, I read that once the broken glass contaminates the cardboard and paper, neither can be recycled. I've been taking my glass to the dump every two months or so and may do the same for cardboard too.

I've just stopped recycling glass and plastics completely. The only thing I put in the bin anymore is paper and cardboard.

I get really upset when I see these regulations about recycling; the whole idea is to reduce waste and take care of our environment. If our current trash people can't handle it, can we look for an alternative?

I can't believe you have to call for metal pick up including foil. So now I can't throw aluminum foil in recycling but aluminum cans are ok?
