I’m wondering what folks would think if Broadlands stopping sending out the monthly newsletter.
Between the HOA website and the Broadlands Blast emails, all of the information that would be in the newsletter is readily available.
It costs about $2 per house per month to send it out.

I recycle them almost immediately, I would love to have the HOA save the expense and save a few trees as well.

I like the newsletter. Please keep it around. It's a professional looking product and shows pride and dedication of HOA staff and gives the neighborhood a positive image.

I switched to digital only a few years ago, that's all I need.

If you're looking for cost savings, there's a lot of other areas that could be candidates. The Southern Walk pool house renovation didn't seem entirely necessary IMHO. This part is hearsay, but I've heard of the deck chairs for the pools being replaced (with resort-style wood ones) and the chairs all seemed in good enough shape to me. The tot lot replacements in the last year or so was another one that was being performed ahead of its due.

I would get rid of the paper copy. I think it's wasteful and impractical when an online version is available. If folks want a paper copy, then they can print it out.

We encourage being greener and reducing costs and have offered an electronic option for the past several years. If you would like to receive electronic copies only of the newsletter, please email OptOut@ broadlandshoa.com and be sure to include your property address. You will no longer be mailed a hard copy, but will be emailed a link to the online version. This option saves money and valuable natural resources such as trees. We encourage all residents to enroll in paperless newsletters.

Thank you for your comments. To clarify, the Southern Walk bath house required renovation for a number of reasons, including issues in the sprinkler and chemical rooms that the county health department required us to address in order to open the facility. There were also safety issues with the showers that required demolition and reconstruction. As for the deck chairs, at this point, only the lifeguard chairs have been upgraded with the resort style chairs made of recycled plastic. The old chairs were rusted and unsafe and they were replaced with upgrades that were more cost effective and would last longer. Reserve funds are set aside for upgrading the 20 year old furniture, but we have not yet invested in those upgrades. Tot lots are upgraded due to safety issues, as the some of the existing lots are 20 years old and no longer comply with current safety standards. The association hires certified playground safety inspectors to survey every tot lot annually and we perform repairs and upgrades as appropriate.

I’d like to opt out as I can read the digital copy instead and I typically breeze through it in an hour and then chuck it out.

How does it cost $2 per household. They sell advertisements in this.

    There are three primary components:
Staff time to put it together, printing company to produce it, and cost to mail it out. It all adds up. I am of the opinion in this day and age it is no longer needed.

Kinda hard to "save costs" on money already spent. as for the deck seating and tot lots, best to replace BEFORE something breaks and potentially cause an injury.
