For those that denied that trash staff was turning my recycling bin upside down- they did it again for the second time -

I made them come back and put it right side up and clean up the trash that fell out-

Their supervisor agreed that there is NO excuse for what has transpired twice- B3313949-0B4E-4C22-B0E2-DD925A3A0A7E.jpeg

You made them come back and turn the can over for you? You flexed on the garbage man and post about it?

    Indeed, very odd.

No, it isn’t- they told me that their procedures does NOT involve flipping the recycling bin upside down with stuff inside- There are some people who don’t deserve this crap especially if they have a bad back- why should we be forced to rectify their crap? Front office told me that they’ve lectured their staff against this practice and they said for me to EXPECT them to come back to make it right.

I hope when you are VERY old and elderly That you aren’t forced to have to flip it back up on a routine case in the future- let’s see if you enjoy the. aggravation- HOA’s front office said that’s not right for them to do that-

don’t like what I did? Too bad! I have some elderly neighbors with a bad back who would NOT appreciate it.

I pay my fees and it doesn’t come with the edict that I must accept their behavior- even supervisor told me that is NOT their practice and was going to have a talk with their staff.

Patriot is batting 1000 on my street. They glance down the cul-de-sac and don't see stuff that is hidden behind my neighbor's trees or cars, so they don't bother to come down the street. I put out some paper "yard waste" bags last Monday that were not picked up. I called Patriot and was told that last Monday (12/20) was the last day for yard waste, so I would have to put them in my garbage bin. When I insisted that they should pick them up because I had them out that Monday, they then put me on hold and then came back to say that the truck had not come down my street (they must have GPS tracking on their trucks), so they would pick them up that day (12/23). Never happened, and I didn't make an issue of it during Christmas, but plan to call them again tomorrow.

I recall several months ago that Patriot’s contract would be recompeted and wondering what the outcome of this recompete was so who will be the trash company in 2022???

I have had to call (5 times) this year for yard waste pickup. They either missed our street or didn't see my bag on the curb. And twice it went out with the Thursday trash because the truck never returned as they said it would.

Loving the trash service down here in Jacksonville. They only pick up once a week each for trash but will take EVERYTHING, even loose items not in a bin. Recycling is also once a week however it must be in the bin.

Patriot simply sucks and if they win the recompete, it’s probably because they lowball to the point where thr HOA will take it because they don’t want to increase the fees and raise the ire of the residents- service quality be damned, I think.

So we probably will keep seeing pi$$ poor services going forward and HOA probably won’t do a thing about it as it’s “life as usual”.

In short, we’ll just have to suck it up.

Found out from HOA that Patriot’s contract was renewed until 2026!!!!
That means we are locked in no matter if their service is poor over next 5 years- so I guess I was right that we got to suck it up no matter what happens to customer service-

Any idea if the new contract addresses the issues that people have complained about?

Capricorn, please do not post 'factually incorrect' information like this, as it causes confusion and extra work for HOA staff to clarify.

We are NOT "locked in no matter if there service is poor over the next 5 years" - We would NEVER sign a contract that locks the HOA in such a way for the next 5 years, that's absurd. There is a specific clause in the contract, in section XVIII. TERMINATION that starts off with:

I believe that most, if not all of our contracts have such a clause in them, albeit with different 'days of notice' clauses.

We also specifically addressed the issues that were brought up by residents and Board members in the contract. If you have any questions or concerns, rather than posting factually incorrect information here, please attend the next Board meeting and the board will be happy to answer any questions, concerns, etc, you might have regarding the Patriot contract.

Thank you for clarifying it but I did get an email from HOA stating that “
“contract was extended through 2026.” So I assumed that it was locked in- How else am I to know we AREN’T? If HOA had posted the entire terms of contract on the forum/newsletter, then I wouldn’t have made an assumption so sorry if you got rankled by my assumption-

Patriot is now 0-for-5 in collecting my bagged yard waste. Put it on the curb Sunday late, they come by and pick up the regular trash and leave the yard waste bags sitting. If there is a separate truck/collection then they are skipping my street.

My yard bag wasn't picked up either. This is the third time this year. Finally gave up and no longer call them. The trash guy will pick it up tomorrow.

I think I stumbled upon Patriots new tagline...

"Patriot Disposal - if it fits in the bin we will pick it up 85% of the time."

My yard waste bag was NOT picked up either-
Their customer service Dept is terrible. I no longer call them because no matter if I call them, nothing changes. It keeps happening throughout the year-

If you would like to report service issues, please contact the HOA office with your name and property address at 703-729-9704 or info@broadlandshoa.com. We would be happy to assist in contacting Patriot.

My water-logged bag was picked up with the trash yesterday. The garbage collector was not happy about taking it for the 3rd time and asked me why I do not call Patriot. I told him I stopped calling them because they say they will send a truck and then no one shows. He said he will speak to his supervisor.
