I’m stunned that county is proposing 7% salary increases across the board for all county employees and 12% increases for Firemen and uniformed personnel in the county? That’s pretty significant and even private employers are NOT paying their employees that much- Average pay increase this yr is much less than that!

Why are they giving raises that high? No wonder our real estate taxes all are going up this yr by a good amount-

Because they can. We are the richest county in the world.

So you are saying just because we are the richest county, we should (or can) throw away our hard earned money on anything the county supervisors want to?

Typical strategy of a Democrat controlled board - tax and spend

Corn, these are first responders and public servants living in inflationary times. And your concern is taxes on your rapidly appreciating home. SMH

    Shim-
My salary isn’t much more than what they make- I’m not even making that kind of raises that they will be getting- my house isn’t appreciating that rapidly as you think and many of those firemen and police officers live in houses as we do too!

I guess you are ok with runaway taxes and bloated spending - $1.8billion to run the school system here? Some of my buddies that live in LOCO also think it’s nuts to be spending that much on a school system - They are paying a lot for top level administrators making well over $375k a yr— and they want to give him more??? Especially after the debacle earlier last yr and the huge severance package they gave the prior superintendent for his huge $@$*% up?

Mmmmmmkayyyy, I guess you rich folks are ok with paying a lot more in salaries! I guess it pays to work in thr government and they get fat pensions when they retire- a friend of mine just retired from the government and his pension annually is well over $135k a yr and he’s laughing all the way to the bank saying taxpayers are suckers— He just bought a top of the line BMW - that 135k doesn’t even include his social security after 62! He’s raking it in -

I should have gone into government instead- oh well. Retirement is always better on the gov side because pensions are guaranteed and never will go down.

I just found out that the current school superintendent really got a very lucrative package:

$375k salary with $20k a yr salary bonus every year ON TOP of the annual raise he will get, 34 days of vacation (more than most companies give out), a week extra leave as well, he got $24k for living expenses for 6 months, relocation expenses, and kicked in an extra $7k for moving too.

Damn, what a lucrative package he negotiated. Guaranteed 20k annual bonus alone with annual salary increases?

Guess tax and spend is what some people are ok with?!?!

I’m sure a lot of teachers are rankled that he gets more than 20k compensation checks each anniversary of his employment.

Thank you to the Firemen and uniformed personnel in the county, both career and volunteer. Yesterday's Line of Duty Death and injuries put a different perspective on this discussion.
