TILLETT’S VIEW LAND USE APPLICATION PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE – MARCH 13, 2024

Provided is an overview and update on the Tillett’s View land use application (LEGI-2023-0031) that is currently in the public review process. The application will appear at the March 13th Board of Supervisors’ Public Hearing for a final vote of approval or denial. The Public Hearing will take place at 6:00pm at the Loudoun County Government Center (1 Harrison Street SE, Leesburg). Comments can be made over the phone or in person. To sign up to speak at the Public Hearing, view the agenda, or watch the public hearing, visit: Loudoun.gov/Meetings.

This application proposes to rezone approximately 50 acres of vacant land southeast of Waxpool Elementary School and surrounding the area where Waxpool Road, Belmont Ridge Road, and Black Angus Drive meet, near the old Tillett’s Auction Barn. The request is to rezone from rural commercial and R-1 (one residential unit per acre) to a higher density residential zoning to construct up to 110 stacked condo units, 184 townhouse units, and 103 single family units (397 total units). This application was forwarded to the Board with a unanimous recommendation of denial from the Planning Commission. I hear the vote may be reconsidered at tonight’s meeting. My guess is the applicant has reduced the density to get more votes.

I see where Supervisor Glass is going to reconsider this application based on the applicant reducing the number of homes. It will happen, people. Let's see how many more houses we can cram into every small space until there is no more grass or trees in Loudoun County. I've lived here for years, and it amazes me how the county's "plan" for housing continuously morphs and the density continues to march west.

When we moved here in '99 you could still hear the cows at night. Now all you hear is airplane traffic.
