Who do I write or call to file a complaint about someone parking their limosine on my street. Not a onetime thing either.

I'm not sure. Maybe the same people you call when people block the sidewalks with their vehicles so that people have walk their kids and the stroller in the street to get around it? Or, maybe the same person you call when people put their sprinklers on too high so people have to walk their kids and strollers in the stree to get around? Sorry, wish I had an answer for you! Good luck!)

If it's a commercial vehicle, they are not allowed to be parked in the community. I'd call Wes.

The limo is parked there many weekends. I believe it belongs to the homeowner's boyfriend. It makes it a challenge to back out of your driveway if you have the misfortune to live across the street or next door. And if that's not bad enough, the limo is parked on the side of the street that is clearly marked "Fire Zone" and "No parking".

I live in a townhouse and what this person will do is park on the curb behind the visitor parking, making it difficult to get out. I thought about asking the person not to park there and maybe park out on Vestals Gap instead but I really get the feeling that it wouldn't go very well.

section84, you know who I am talking about then! The first person to live in that townhouse parked his coffee delivery truck in the visitor parking next to his rusted hoopdee...now this. Must be something in the contract on that house that states it must be owned by people with commerical vehicles.

If they're blocking a fire lane, I wouldn't bother Wes, I'd call the police to ticket him.

there are convents about parking your commercial vehicles in the neighborhood (even if they are your own). the community has gone round and round with this and several owners. I'd just call the HOA office and give them the details.

There is a procedure in place to warn, give notice, etc before they start towing, etc.

Yes, I live across the street from you. I remember the original owners of that home. I also recall how they monopolized 3 of the 5 (6?) parking spaces near their home. I don't miss the coffee delivery van at all -- it often parked in two spaces in order to reserve a parking space for the spouse who got home later in the day. This limo thing isn't much better, though. And I've seen the driver park his pickup truck on the street opposite the parking spaces when there were 3 or 4 spaces free. I don't know if he's trying to be considerate (he's not a resident), or if he's too lazy to park in a space.

Don't get me started on the neighbors who park across the foot of their driveways rather than walk a hundred yards from Vestals Gap. Some evenings our street is an obstacle course, and it looks like a parking lot rather than a residential neighborhood.

As for calling the police, Zansu, you are right. Since it's not an emergency situation, though, I'm not sure the response would be fast enough to ticket the limo. Sometimes it's there for 30 minutes, and other times it's there for hours. I'll send Wes an email with the address in question. Maybe he can send them a reminder letter.

If they are parking blocking the street and/or sidewalk, it's illegal. You might want to mention this to Wes too and have a reminder letter sent to all residents on the street.

I've got someone on my street blocking the sidewalk again...they do it constantly! I find it hard to believe we can inforce something like this. Although, I would love it if we could!

I wish those streets were built with better parking in mind :( I can't stand driving down vestals like its a slalom course.

We are lucky that our street has what has proven over the years to be adaquate parking.. while other streets like the Magic Townhomes seem to have ZERO parking.. making them all park on the street constantly.

Having people park on the streets occasionally is no big deal.. but the amount we have there constantly really detracts from the neighborhood IMO.

FWIW ... as someone mentioned, there are covenants in the Declaration for Broadlands that state:

Section 8.2n - Except in connection with construction activities, no commercial vehicles, trailers, campers, recreational vehicles, boats or any other large vehicles, including grounds maintenance equipment (my emphasis) may be parked on any portion of the Common Area, or any portion of a Lot visible from the Common Area or another Lot or any public right of way within or adjacent to the Property, unless expressly permitted by the Board of Directors and only in such parking areas or for such time periods (if any) as may be designated for such purpose.

In the Declaration, the terms Common Area is defined as Property owned or leased by the HOA. Lot is defined as a portion of the Property held in separate ownership.

FWIW ... this section (8.2n) also covers vehicles on the community trails. And says that no motor vehicle shall be driven on Community Trails, pathways ro unpaved portions of Common Area.

So .. these motorized scooters are not to be ridden on the trails. And, shouldn't be in the main streets at all.

Me and section84 live in the Magic Townhomes, and you are right, no parking.

I live on the same street with the limo driver as well. I've be reluctant to call since it seemed at first that it was a once in a blue moon thing (part time/weekend job?). Now it's become a regular problem (full time job?). I believe that calling Wes is a good start since the HOA clearly bars commerical vehicles to be parked on residential streets in Broadlands.

A second issue is that the limo is being parked in a fire lane. I believe the non-emergency loudoun county police number would be the best bet. Although I don't know if it is a big enough deal for them to respond.

I have no problem with someone trying to make a living, but this person shows no consideration for other homeowners on the street. It's a huge hassle to navigate around a stretch limo/suv parked on a narrow townhouse street. The red and black pickup trucks blocking the visitor spots are a whole seperate issue.

I believe the homeowner in question has already received warnings from the HOA about other issues. If enough people feel strongly enough to call, I would think the owner would be warned and hopefully would park over on vestals. I'm hoping maybe he just doesn't realize how much this bugs other people.

I've traded voice mails with Wes Schroeder. He suggested calling the sherrif's office about the parking in the fire lane. He didn't really seem to have a good solution for the other parking issues. He mentioned that it could be addressed in the newsletter or through a mailing to the streets in question. Frankly, I'm not really sure what the HOA can really do about it.
