Actually, it was me who wrote that statement.

Except when we ask open questions, we're all here to change other people's minds whether we know it or not.

    Thanks for proving my point.

Why do you need to prejudge and classify people? Maybe we should find all the non-parents here and remove their posts or at least shrink the font size down since they must not be as "credible".

You're not the only one and this isn't the only case. For example, look at how people here gang up on SUV owners.

How do you automatically know that people "judging" and "lecturing" parents are people without kids?

This might come as a shock to you: Some people who disagree with you may be parents themselves! And some people who agree with you may not be parents!

My only complaint here was that people are so close-minded that they brand anyone who disagrees with them.

No event in life will change a person more than having a child. Prior to having our child I was pretty much just like BRIM. I too, did not like people "allegedly" using their children for excuses or reasoning. Then I had a child.

I will stick by my statement. Have a child first!

Oh, and I do agree that some will use their children as a convenience. That is one of the perks! :)

I'd say getting in a car accident and becoming a quadrapalegic would change your life more than having a kid.

I don't really appreciate the outcast tone in 'I used to be like brim'...like I'm a drug user or alcoholic or something. I just don't care to have children...they're a huge financial and social responsibility and my wife and I are selfish with our free time. It's nice to be able to do what you want, when you want to do it instead of having to look for a baby sitter or pack up what amounts to an overnight bag full of all the 'necessities' every time you leave the house. Perhaps my opinion will change as I get older and the wife's biological clock starts ticking.

I think some people with children have their judgement clouded by parenhood. In their world, everything revolves around the kid...but nobody elses does and thats what the problem is. It's a great big world, people...there is a certian level of unselfishness that can be expected but for the most part, people can't be bothered with when your child has decided to take a nap or not and behave accordingly.

Hazy, my apologies...I did mix you up with another person and should have double-checked before I posted.

Poultry, I will stand by everything I said. You think I'm "branding" people. My point is that you have every right in the world to comment on parents; but unless you are one, you lack a certain amount of credibility in my opinion. I'm not saying your opinions are "wrong"; they're simply formed by someone who's approaching the issue from a different perspective.

But is the noise still too loud with the windows closed?

Sheesh. We live in a neighborhood, not a cemetery. A little noise while tots are napping aren't going to lower their SAT scores. The kids will be fine, but some of the parents seem a bit stressed out.

Perhaps the parents are stressed because their children who don't get naps are cranky, whiney and a pain in the wazoo...lack of sleep will do that to a child.

Yes, this is addressed to you. You accuse your neighbors of bad habits like listening to music but the reality is it's not loud at all if you can close your window to escape the noise. Just maybe, your neigbhors aren't the one with the problem. Your expectation seems to be that you live in the middle of 50 acres without a sound other than butterflies instead of a thriving subrural neighborhood.

The time goes by in a blink of an eye and they grow up so quickly. Eventually, you will look back on here and now and realize it was one of the truly best times of your life. Turn the page.

But you do find it worth your time to whine on a message board when you're the one that's the real problem here. I can't say I'm surprised. Our disturbance of the peace laws are written in such a way as to protect your neighbors from people just like you. You whine and complain when people aren't doing anything wrong.

I agree with closing the windows if that fixes the problem... But, loud music (esp when all you hear is the bass) is annoying. If your NEIGHBORS can hear it, it MIGHT be to loud, don't you think?
