Does anyone currently use PAX (run flat technology by Michelin) tires? I'm curious about how much more expensive they are to replace than a regular tire. Also, are they easy to repair or will you end up replacing them? Any experiences would be great.

Did you try the Michelin website? Costco? Goodyear?

I got tires at Sears, but don't know what kind they are. Good year gave me a very high estimate.
Oh, please disregard, if PAX is only offered by Michelin. sorry.

I have run-flats on my Mini .. they're Pirelli's and they do cost a bit more. Not to mention that you must have someone who has been trained and certified to install them do the replacement. From what I understand it has something to do with the rims, they are not your father's steel rims off an old Chevy. The removal and installation must be done on a special machine, not the old 'red horse' you've seen in the tire shops.

What was good about Mini, is that they advised I buy the tire myself off the Internet (www.tirerack.com), and then bring it in to them to change out. For a replacement Pirelli PZero 205/45ZR17 it cost me $153 a tire.

    Installation cost me another $25.00.

My suggestion is to stick with regular tires. My car has OEM Continental self-seal tires, which I agree are not the same as run-flats, but I and several other people I know with the same tire have had to wait weeks for replacement tires because they aren't readily available. They don't always seal when they're suppose to and they can't be plugged like a regular tire. Continental has been great in replacing the tire under warranty, but who wants to wait a week or so while on a trip to get the tire replaced?

I'd make sure the run-flats don't suffer from similar supply problems before buying any.

Are you asking about PAX because they come on the new Honda Odyessy Touring? I can tell you that they are a metric diameter, so your replacement options will be extremely limited come replacement time. I would get the EX, it has normal sized tires.

Yes this is why I'm asking. I'm steering away from the Touring package because my feeling is the tires will be more trouble than their worth. I wanted other people's opinions on this too:)

    Thanks everyone!
