I am looking for a reliable plumber and did look up some previous forums on the subject.

We moved into our VM Southern Walk home a few weeks ago but bought from the previous owner who was likely an investor as they never moved in. I mention this because I am not sure if VM will even look at any plumbing issues as we are not the original owners.

Anyway, in the upstairs hall bath, the water takes a long time to drain from the tub after taking a shower. It was that way from day one. It could be as simple as using drano but since we are the first to use the house, I don't know what could be causing it to drain so slowly. The toilet in the same bathroom also makes a gurgling sound when flushed. It always works but makes a strange "bloop" sound.

I would like to see if anyone has any updated info or contact info on some of the plumbers mentioned previously.

So far on the forums, I have read about--

    Monroe (some pros and cons)
    Wacker (mostly cons)
Robco (not much info or contact info)
    Huseyin Tombakoglu (not much info)

Does anyone have any further thoughts or experiences with local plumbers they can share?

    Many thanks,

    Scott

I forgot to mention Peed Plumbing. A funny name but does anyone have any experience with them?

Yes- Its 703-323-8672. He puts coupons in the red community phone book pretty often. They did the plumbing work in our basement. Good luck!

Don't know about the original poster but I can *highly* recommend Joe Melancon at 703-705-8028 (work) or 703-609-3626 (cell).

My next door neighbor gave me his name and I called him about a leak in our basement. He was able to come out here the same day because he was going to be in the neighborhood anyway. His rates are extremely reasonable, he's very personable and professional.

He also was able to give us numerous recommendations concerning our master bathroom which has severe problems which will end up with us having to fix the subfloor under the shower and basically replace/remodel the entire bathroom - not inexpensive but it'll be awesome once we get around to doing it in the next five years or so.

It has been several years, but when we lived in Chantilly I used Herndon Plumbing.

They were very honest and professional. If you didn't need the work done, they didn't try to push extra fixes.

I'll second - Wacker Plumbing. Have used them twice in the last year and was pleased both times.

Without doubt Herndon Plumbing is a service oriented, quality company. Their "counter" service is excellent, if you need help on DIY projects.

    Their field service is excellent.

Does anyone have the number for Herdon Plumbing? Also, do they charge by the hour or by the job?

Oops...sorry for the double posting. I just used the search function and replied to it. Didn't check the topic headings.

    Scott,

We moved into a M&S townhouse in Soouthern Walk that had been owned by an investor (but we were the first occupants) and had several plumbing problems. While M&S doesn't honor the 1 year new house warranty, we discovered that most of their contractors did, including the plumber. In fact in one case M&S tried to prevent the plumber from fixing a problem, but the plumbing company argued with them (on our behalf) and won. All problems the plumbers have had to fix have been repaired well.

Have you been there less than a year? If so, did you check with VM to see if they honor the warranty after transfer? If they don't, did you check with the plumber to see if they stand behind their work?

    Good luck!
    Richard
