Can anyone recommend a hardwood floor company? We want to replace the carpet in our family room with hardwood.

Carpet and Blinds in the Parkhurst Plaza. Same plaza as the Buffalo Wing Factory and Goodyear service center. They came out and measured and had us the esitimate within 24 hours. Significantly below some other places.

    T8erman,

Did you have them do the work? If so how was it?

They installed the hardwood in our former townhouse (2002). Quick, professional and a real nice job. Steve is (still, I hope) the owner. When we decided to have a free estimate done (significantly lower than a couple of others), he came out that night and we signed a contract. His crew was scheduled for something like 8-10 days later and he called and asked if they could start 3 days earlier!
    We were very pleased.

We also had carpet installed by them. They also do tile and countertops.

We bought our Hunter Douglas blinds/shades there. Great price, free measuring and installation.

I have to say that I would never recommend Steve at Carpet and Blinds. We bought carpet from them which within 6 months looked terrible! Not his fault. Dupont replaced it sight unseen, however I got to listen to Steve tell me how noone else had ever complained about this carpet before. The next carpet- same thing happens. I called him after I called Dupont just to let him know how badly the Tactesse friese was wearing. He was incredibly rude and treated me like a complete fool. All because no one else had complained. I invited him to come inspect the carpet himself to see how matted it was in such a short time. And pointed out that I belive most people treat their carpet warranty much like the one on their mattress- they simply do not bother to complain. I think he thought we owned a herd of elephants! I might add Dupont sent an inspector out who agreed the carpet was wearing terribly- again Dupont replaced it for free.

I friend of mine almost bought hardwoods from him. He told her all about me and how I complained about the carpet- and was very rude- not a way to treat customers. Honestly I found him to be condescending and nasty.

I do however have a recommendation. Phil at Image Flooring across from MCI at the industrial park was amazing! He knows a ton about carpet and flooring and has good prices- especially if you ask for his best price- and his customer service is some of the best I have seen.

    Just my .02!

We dealt with Steve 3 times and he was nothing but professional. A few neighbors used also used them, some multiple times and none had any complaints.

I am not saying he wasn't rude to you but it doesn't sound like him. Maybe he was having a bad day. [?]

As for Image Flooring, why should anyone have to ASK for the best price? Sounds like he was a former middle-eastern barterer or a used car salesman (the sterotyped ones). :D

He must have had several bad days spread over a 2 year period then- he was plain rude about the whole thing to me and my neighbor. As for Image Flooring- the pricing also depends on whether you want the 3 year no interest or are paying cash- you get a better price when paying outright because they are not having to pay the interest on the carpet- and the more you buy the better the price. Actually what I liked best about Phil- after going into almost every carpet store in the County- is that he is the anti-stereotypical carpet salesman. Some are incredibly slimy and their business dealings seem questionable.

I did not mean my price comment to come off that way.

I would recommend contacting Matt Ange at Loudoun Valley Flooring in Purcellville. We used him to replace all of our upstairs carpeting in our previous house in January before listing it for sale. He was great to work with and we plan on using him when we get around to finish our basement. He responded to our call within a day and was able to reorganize his crews to get an in-stock carpet installed the next day.

That being said, 3 years ago we used Abbey Carpet in Leesburg to install Bruce hardwoods in our family room and study. We were very happy with the installation. Just, as we found out recently, we probably could have found a better price.
