I just visited with Loudoun Pediatric Associates. The practice seemed to have everything, but I didn't get that warm and fuzzy feeling at the office, it was kind of cold and white. Just wondering what other groups might be in the area that other parents recommend? Thanks.

I use Ashburn Village Pediatrics in the Ashburn Village shopping center. Dr. Lisa Williams is wonderful.

We use Ashburn Pediatrics in the Professional Plaza across from the Ashburn Farm Giant. I've only had a problem with one of the physician there, but a neighbor loves that doctor and doesn't perfer the one we love. I love having the ability to do walk-ins for an hour each weekday morning. I can take my child in first thing, run over to Giant to get the prescription, take her to school, and get me to work by 9am.

Love Ashburn Peds. Not sure if they are taking new patients tho. I know they weren't several months back. Good luck with your search!

We also use Ashburn Pediatrics. They are wonderful (but there is one doctor there we don't like at all-we just ask not to see anyone but him and they are always accomodating and don't make us feel bad). Our son was sick a lot as an infant so we got to know the practice very well.

We like Whole Child Pediatrics, also in the Professional Plaza across from Giant. All 3 doctors are great. They take the time needed to "warm up" the child and have a good rapport before they start the examination. They are easy to reach after hours. The nurses are prompt calling back when you need advice. They also have walk-in hours in the morning. They have 2 separate waiting rooms, a well and a sick. My son actually likes going to this doctors office, whereas he was scared with most of the doctors at Reston Pediatrics. The number is (703)723-8900.

I second Whole Child Pediatrics. Not too crazy about some of the front staff, but the drs' are what keeps me going back for my infant daughter.

We use them too. I guess I'm a bit neutral on them. No love, no hate. Don't like them as much as my pedi I had back in Boston, but havent' had any bad experiences, certainly, in the 6 months we've been here. (I have a 2 year old and a 7.5 month old.)

We use Virginia Pediatrics. They have offices in Reston and Fairfax. A little ways to go sometimes, but they are right off the toll road, and have some very very good Dr's. It is a rather large practice, which has its plus's and minus's, but overall very good. There are 3 or 4 other people on our street who take their children there as well.

Actually, I change my mind about Whole Child Pediatrics. I feel the practice has gone down. There seems to be a bit of change in staff that they don't really tell you about, and it's impossible to get appointments. It seems like they have all the patient load they want, so they don't seem too keen about keeping the ones they have. They no longer call you to remind you of appts (which I forget sometimes as a new mom trying to juggle a job, a new baby, etc.), and it's taking me two months to get another well-baby visit (which is a long time to wait to see the doctor for a baby's visit).

When I informed them that I'm switching practices, they told me it'll take them approx. 3 weeks to get my baby's records!! I think I'll let the new dr's office request her records and see if they respond a bit more quickly!

Although it's a short drive, we've recently started using South Riding Pediatrics. We're "new patients" there after transferring from Farrell Pediatrics in Reston where my older daughter was seen from birth. Both practices are part of the same "group" with some overlap between doctors.

We've never had a problem getting seen for sick visits on only a few hours notice although well visits need to be scheduled with plenty of notice. This has been the case at both locations and once, when things were really backed up in Reston, we were sent to South Riding instead. When daughter #2 arrived, we were scheduled immediately for a well-baby visit.

The thing I like the best about this practice is that they don't hesitate to refer you elsewhere if something ought to be checked out. My eldest daughter was born with a birthmark on her lower back and at two days old was in for an ultrasound just to be sure that her kidneys were functioning properly and there were no lower back neural tube problems. We've also been referred to a whole spectrum of other specialists over the past four years.

One drawback if it's important to you is that they do not have privileges at the Loudoun hospital - only at Fairfax and Reston.

They're not in Ashburn but overall, we've been pretty happy as they've been responsive to our needs which have been quite substantial (unfortunately).

We have been using Virginia Pediatrics http://www.virginiapediatrics.com/. They have 2 offices ( Reston, fairfax). I realize a little far away for some, but the greedway/ toll road, it is actually very quick to get to the reston office. Can't say enough good things about the docs, nurses, and the office staff. My personal prefference on docs there is Dr. Puppo, but they have several other highly rated docs.

If by chance you are just looking for a ped to see for ear infections, etc at night, instead of going to the ER, go to the Peds at nite office at the mall. Their open from 5pm until 11pm I think every day and you only get charged a standard copay. Very reliable

While not specifically a Pediatrics practice, I highly recommend Broadlands Family Practice. They are located across Clayborn Parkway from Giant, and they reserve a certain number of appointments each day for walk-ins. I have been a patient of Dr. Cohn's for 4 years, and he has been my daughter's doctor since birth (she is now 2).

For what it's worth, we really like Sterling Family Practice alot! The kids and I see Cindy Yew most of the time and hubby likes Dr. Leon.

I do not recommend pediatrics@nite. Convenient hours, and the doctor was friendly, but the "billing department" is a nightmare. There is one employee that works occasionally (1-2 nights a week) that does the billing (no overlap with insurance company hours), and is difficult to reach. They don't return phone calls, and several employees admitted that the billing system is a mess. As a mom of 3, I realize I will have to spend some time following up on insurance/billing mishaps, but this experience was over the top.

We have United Healthcare and we use Pediatric Healthcare. They've been great with my 3 boys (ages 4, 2.5, 1). The staff is nice, the drs. are terrific (one has a bad bedside manner, but still knows his stuff), and we've never had a billing problem with them. They also happily give us samples of prescriptions before we go out and purchase them from the pharmacy. Both their offices are convenient (Leesburg and Sterling) and they regularly accept new patients.

I also do not recommend pediatrics@nite in the dulles town center. The billing department at that place is one of the worst I have ever dealt with. They have no clue as to what is going on and never return calls. We had lot of billing issues with them. It is very unfortunate since that place has real convenient hours.
    Thanks
    Sandeep
