What is going in next to Safeway/San Vito?

    It appears they're doing some excavation work there. I've seen site maps but frankly can't quite tell what's supposed to be where on them. [:I] Anyone know what it being built and who might occupy it?

    That's phase III of the shopping center (that is if you're talking about the area behind the bank). They have not yet said who they have as tenants.

    Along the same lines, the Wendy's is scheduled to be built across from the bank and across from the Safeway gas. There are 2 restaurant pads and I know Wendy's is locked into one of them.

    I'm not that sure about a big retailer, as that area is not as deep as Safeway, which leaves out alot of back room space, and it doesn't look like it has any sort of loading dock designed into it. If it did, it would block Safeway's access to its dock. Considering its the same size as the rest of the small retailers next to Safeway, it could be a build-to-suit situation, or it may be split into small shops, depending on the inquiries they get.

    Now pad 39 could be another fast food place, and 40 could be the perfect size for a chain restaurant.

    Am I reading this wrong or is this new 'retail space' connected to the current strip? I was under the impression that Phase III was the addition of a smaller strip, perpendicular to the current one, between the bank and the Safeway. From the looks of it now, it looks like San Vito will no longer be located on the corner and that there will not be a 'gap' between the new addition. I could have sworn that the original Phase III plan was to build on the lot with a strip going North-South, and the gap going to the back of the retail area left intact coming up Demott. Sorry if this all sounds confusing... Simply put, wasn't Phase III a strip all to itself to the right of the current strip?

    yeah. they changed it. Looks like it let them add a large restaurant pad. THe current plan also looks like the addition is one store. Maybe they just haven't subdivided because they don't have tenants. Who knows. There certainly isn't much data.

    I seem to recall from one of the homeowner updates (remember them) over a year ago that Saul Centers was trying to lure a mid-size anchor into the Phase III section. When asked what they meant by mid-size, they indicated it would be something on the order of a Michael's or a drug store.
