I saw on the updated site plan for the Ryan Park Center development in front of Home Depot that it appears that Kaiser Permanente is taking over the majority of space in one of the two buildings that are being built right along the Greenway to the east of the restaurants and right behind the new Giant center. Does anyone know if this will be replacing or supplementing the existing Loudoun Kaiser center near the hospital?

Oh yay- another barber shop, nail place, and dry cleaners. =( Is there no variation to our strip shopping centers!!??

No wonder outsiders get lost in Ashburn- it all looks the same!!!

    Big McMansions, Big McMansions,
    Big McMansions made of ticky-tacky
    Big McMansions, Big McMansions,
    Big McMansions all the same

There's a red one, and a green one,
and a blue one, and a yellow one.
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
and they all look just the same.

Don't forget the two asian restaurants (although if that one really is Aoba - like the one in Countryside - that'll be good) oh and the Subway, you can never have too many of those. I see coffee too although not a Starbucks.

Can't we get a movie theatre. Every time I go to the one in Sterling there are police and what looks to be gang members hanging around

I beleive now is the time for the usual "insert nutritional information of Baja Fresh and Chipotle" and let people know that such food is bad for you.

I love both places, and even though the food may sit in your belly like a ton of bricks, it certainly doesn't stay there too long! ;)

Since this thread has officially been hijacked, I wanted to point out that neilz's song would be more appropriately:

(sung to the tune of Little Houses )

    Big McMansions, Big McMansions,
    Big McMansions made of ticky-tacky
    Big McMansions, Big McMansions,
    Big McMansions all the same

There's a white one, and a gray one,
and a brown one, and a browner one.
And they're all made out of ticky-tacky
and they all look just the same.

    BTW - where's our weed dealer? :D

Unfortunately, my company just moved to KP (drat). Fortunately this one is opening in Ashburn.

Anyone have any good or bad experiences with KP? We're on the flex choice, which is better than the plain HMO, I'm assuming. I've heard their past has been less than good.

KP is one of my largest customers. We set up this location in our systems for opening today. I think it is an additional site--they haven't told us that the location near the hospital is closing.

As far as KP goes as an insurer/provider--I think it is a major adjustment if you've been used to "traditional" healthcare. Things are better, things are worse, and some things are just different. Just try to be patient. My company has offered KP as a choice for years and many of the people I work with are enrolled and delighted. Some with joint replacements, some with cancer---no major complaints. I also know many docs who work for them and they're all good, caring, skilled people.

gregg, our family had a great experience with KP (the normal "HMO" plan). We had an excellent family doctor and specialists (Dr Segura in lansdowne). I *hate* having to deal with deductibles, paying bills, etc. KP is all just a copay and forget about it, even surgeries -- no need to get a flex account, etc. unfortunately MCI/Verizon Biz only offers 1 option, united healthcare, so we can't use KP anymore :(

We have been with Kaiser for the past 3 years and have been pleased. We like everything about Kaiser. It is one stop shop for all your medical needs. Don't have to run from a doctor to a lab and to a pharmacy. In addition, they have a great on call nurse system.

    I would highly recommend Kaiser.

My wife has been with KP for about a year and I recently joined her plan. So far I have been very happy with them and especially Dr. Segura who was mentioned in an earlier post. It is a lot less hassle than other plans I've been in (Etna, Mamsi/United Healthcare) and all of the various KP health professionals are linked via computer. So your records are available to any of their in-house providers. And you can view your medical history online and the best yet --- you can e-mail your doctor and actually get timely replies. I'm sold. Although I live very close to their new Ashburn facility, I will continue to see Dr. Segura in Landsdowne.
