Brambelton Harris Teeter

Does anyone know (maybe a Brambleton resident w/ access to their Intranet) when the exact opening date of the new Harris Teeter will be? I know the site plan on the Madison Retail Group website says Oct 2005, but does anyone have more specifics.

Also, what is the timeline on the development of the shopping center off of Wynridge?

 

Hey, I'm in Brambleton. There was a post today that the store is targeting an October 19 opening. They have begun to stock the shelves.

 

Yep, I talked to the teeter rep and builder. Oct 19th is the slated date. Also the Chevy chase bank is slated to open OCT 1st

 

Where is it located from Waxpool or Greenway so I know where it is?

 

Down Belmont Ridge to Ryan Road, turn right at Ryan Road, the shopping center down the road on the left.

FWIW .. the Harris Teeter at Stone Ridge is not far behind. They've got the sign up on the building, not sure if they're stocking it yet.

I would expect some movement on this after the first of the year or so. We're having another developer/community update in November. I believe we said the 16th, so we'll hear more about it there.

The Harris Teeter in Stone Ridge opens next Tuesday, September 27. We (in Brambleton) received an invitation to a tasting to be held the evening it opens.

 

Which will be the closet to Souther Walk Broadlands area?

The Harris Teeter in Brambleton will be closest to Broadlands until the Broadlands Harris Teeter opens next year.

FWIW ... Van Metre said that they would have theirs up before Brambleton, even though Brambleton started building earlier.

We just received an invitation to a tasting and ribbon cutting ceremony at the Harris Teeter in Brambleton for October 18th.

 

Van Metre's Teeter better start building... they have 18 days.
(Oh...never mind... for some reason I thought there was a store being built somehwere in B-lands and opening up)[]

What is so great about Harris Teeter anyway?
I went one time to the one in A-burn Village and did not think it was any better than Safeway. I thought their prices were horrible. Just. Like. Safeway.
Am I missing something here?

I do almost all of my shopping at Weggies. I love that place. They must filter in happy air because I am always happy when I shop there. Even when it is a mob scene, like on Sunday afternoons.

 

Well if you are complaining about there prices y do you shop a weggies. The most overpriced of all.

 

I am curious where this "weggies" nickname got started. I grew up in central/western New York State... where Wegmans is based... and this nickname was never used. It was always and only "Wegmans."

Is this just something that people have started on here?

 

I actually disagree about Weggies being most expensive. Most of the time you can take item for item and compare it to Safeway's price and it's lower. And you can't beat how fresh their meat and produce is....especially when you compare that to Safeway!

 

I agree. Wegmans' prices on almost every item I've compared are lower than Giant and Safeway.

 

I agree about the prices at wegmans are lower generally the seafood butcher shop deli are unbeatable in quality a feastive atmosphere superb severice which is almost non existent at Safeway and the the old Guy at wegmans that plays rock and roll and dances while making crab cake sandwiches and selling rock cds is priceless. The crabcake sandwhiches are the best around. Only at lunch thrusday friday sat and sometimes sunday. The little cooking shows are also fun as well the wine and cheese shop and so much more. Don't forget the fresh vegtables much locally grown when in season. Oh before I forget you got to love the train and on and on.

I will also say harris tweeters is just another overpriced very little service grocery store just like most of the others. I have no idea what people see in harris tweeters!!!!

I did not know others called Wegmans "Weggies"...
We are just a little nutty at our house about names of things, places etc. kind of a game. We used to call Sears "Sweers" for example dunno why... I could go on and on. Just a fun language thing. I grew up speaking 4 languages and that might have something to dowith it, and I and my family did much of this behavior at home when I was a kid...

I agree with all that has been said here above about Wegs. I love that place. I have not been to Giant in a year, and I go to Safeway now and then (never for fruit,vegs or meat) Everyone at Wegs behaves like they love their job and and want to serve you. Everyone is knowledgable in the meat dept. Their cakes are oooh wonderful.

 

We always shop at Shopper's Food Warehouse in Ashburn. Nice, wide aisles, not ever too crowded, pretty good selection for what we like and by far much cheaper than the other stores like Wegman's, Safeway, Giant, etc..

 

Shoppers is okay.... the store is dirty and their produce selection is icky. The store is never crowded because it is not a great store. They are not cheaper than Giant or safeway. I know b/c I remember prices (It is a gift, I know)
Weggies actually has better prices than Shoppers for a many many things, and quality you cannot find at any of the other stores.

I really want to know what is soooo great about Harris Teeter?
Anyone?

 

SK8R, I'm not sure what is so great about Harris Teeter either. I was not impressed by the one in Ashburn Village but my sister tells me the new one in Stone Ridge (Aldie) is great. She said they must be taking lessons from Wegmans. I hope that the Brambleton will be as nice as the Stone Ridge one!
