Probably a stupid question, but do the kids usually go trick or treating on Halloween night(since it's a Monday) or the weekend before? This is the first year my kids are trick or treating and we're new to Broadlands. Thanks!

In our five years in Broadlands, trick or treating has been done on the 31st (weekday or not) with the start at around dark. When we lived in Chicago, the trick or treating would start after school, especially for the little kids. We have not seen that here, always after dark.

Yeah, the kids start at dusk. As a result, the traffic on the way home starts getting heavy around 4 PM as everyone heads home early. I try to be home by around 4, just to beat the traffic.

A safe and fun alternative to running around after dark is the HOA Event Committee Sponsored Halloween Parade. It is October 30th at 2:30 pm and starts at the Comunity Center on Waxpool Rd. There are lots of goodies, toys and games. Kids and parents come out in costume (wagons, strollers etc get decorated too). If it rains everything will be moved inside the CC.

We had a great time at Hillside Park today! What a fun parade and the airbrushed face painting was really cool- I got a creepy spider web on my cheek!
THe kids loved it and the weather was great to hit the playground afterward.
Thanks to the volunteers who made it happen!

Glad you enjoyed the face painting. It was something new we tried out at this event. Sounds like it was a hit. We'll keep it in mind for future events.

Oh...way late on the trick or treating thing, but it always seems to be about 6pm - 8pm on the 31st....
