Recently I called AAA for a replacement can and received the same story - delivery is on Fridays, 4-6 weeks...
however I received the new can that Friday. So here's hoping it won't be that long.

BANG, BANG, BANG, BANG!!!! That was the noise I heard at 6:40am this morning from the Recycling Guys on Springwell Drive. I was too tired/lazy to look out the window to see what the banging was. I assume they were shaking/banging something that was stuck in a container. Are these guys supposed to start after 7am as well?

7 AM is what we have in our contract ... please send an email to the HOA office about such violations.

boomertsfx - I did check with my adjacent neighbors and did look around to see if the wind might have blown the can somewhere else. Since none of those actions panned out, I do believe the garbage men did take the can (maybe they threw it in the truck by accident and did not want to take it out?)

However, if someone on Highview Trail Place did see or take in an extra garage can this past Tuesday, please let me know. Thanks in advance.

At our last Board meeting we did discuss the issue of them starting well before their contractual time of 7:00 am and told them that we were getting a lot of complaints about that. They said they would work on making sure all of the drivers knew not to start before 7:00am. We will see if any difference is noticed. Let Wes know if they violate that start time again. Thanks

I know this is a month-old topic, but I searched around about this and this was all I found. We just moved in and have lots of boxes to unpack, so last Tuesday we put out lots of boxes with packing and trash in them and they were picked up - no problem. The following Friday we did the same and they were not. So I called AAA and apparently they have this rule about picking up what they consider "too much trash". The lady I spoke to said that the Tuesday crew must have just been feeling generous when they picked up all of our boxes.

What's interesting is that this rule about "too much trash" doesn't seem to apply if you put your trash in bags. I asked her over and over again if I could put the SAME AMOUNT of trash into bags, flatten the boxes, and expect my trash to be picked up and she said yes (after getting very frustrated with me). We'll see if it does get picked up today.

Not that this is an excuse...but I've been told by our contact at AAA that there are a lot of new people in customer service and there have been some lapses...I'll get in touch with them and let them know there is a problem...as far as I know there is nothing in our contract that limits the amount of trash that will be picked up...please let me know if it doesn't all get picked up today...

Well, we had no pickup today. My husband may have spoken to you because he just told me that he called the association. They picked up all of our neighbor's trash and just skipped us again. This is just downright embarrassing. We lived in Ashburn for almost 14 years and NEVER had a problem with this. I feel the need to apologize to all of our neighbors for this because it looks just awful!

gb10...don't worry about it. You should see the amount of trash we put out last night. It looks like a band of gypsies exploded! We are cleaning out for an upcoming move. I think most people around here understand that folks are always moving in and out.

Man I hope they pick my junk up[:0]

I'd be curious to know if they do get yours. I sent a pointed e-mail to aaa asking what exactly their rules were for trash pickup with a request to have them in writing. I must admit, the e-mail was laced with a little sarcasm.

If they actually send me their rules, I'll be sure to post them in the forum.

You should really work through the HOA on this type of issue, as we're the ones that sign and control the contract, and can also track non-complience with the contract. Please call the HOA office with your name and address.

Here on Windy Oaks Square, moved in on the 23rd of December. One pick up, then nothing. We were in Ashburn Farm for 13 years, never happened. We are moving in, what can I tell ya, we have trash.. We are very concerned. Contacted the HOA and they were helpful, but still we have a pile of very light and easyly disposables still sitting in front on my new home. We will keep you posted. AAA response was that we had too much trash....OK....

Did this get listed twice ?? I thought I saw this posted previously.

Anyway, is this one of the newer townhouses, or is this one that has been there a while? Also, what did they pick up today ??

The following is taken directly from an e-mail I received today that states AAA Trash limitations on what they will and will not take:

"The limit is 3 bags or boxes and the AAA trash can will be taken at each pickup. The bags can be any color and placed to the curb in no required formation. There is no bag size requirement and if the bag is torn, it should be double bagged. Any other trash that the above listed, does require a special pickup. We do special pickups on Fridays in Broadlands, please let us know if you would need to schedule."

gb10...that is crazy! When I got home from work last night all the junk I put out was picked up and believe me there was ALOT! </u> More than three bags thats for sure. I have never heard of that rule before. I'll be interested in what the HOA has to say about it.

Well, I forwarded AAA's response about this alleged "3 bag rule" to the Asst Property Manager (who has been VERY responsive and wonderfully helpful) and she said it is absolutely not correct - that this "rule" may apply to individual customers but the association contract is otherwise and has no specified limit. The HOA contact at AAA is supposed to send a truck out to collect our trash. My concern at this point is that clearly at least one of the AAA crews is following this imaginary rule regardless of what the HOA contract with AAA states.

Yeah, I have put out way more then that limit as well. They're email also doesn't cover all the other stuff they will pick up other then garbage bags and cans such as yard waste and small to medium sized junk w/o a special call. Sounds like there CS doesn't know what the Ops side is doing.
