    Hi,

We will be looking for a Christmas tree in the next few days. Are there any recommendations on where to go to get a nice one?

    Thanks for any advice.

    Best regards,
    Richard

We get ours from Home Depot. Good selection, good trees and much more reasonably priced than others.

Depends, do you want really fresh, as in Cut Your Own, or something that was cut a few weeks ago, and has been trucked in ??

Here's the 2005 Loudoun Christmas Tree Farm list:

I recommend Lowelands Farm (www.lowelandsfarm.com) in Middleburg. It's a family-owned farm where you can either purchase pre-cut trees (fraser firs) or cut your own. I just got a gorgeous fraser fir there last weekend. Also, the family who owns the farm is very nice. It's a short ride west on Rte. 50 and then onto Snickersville Turnpike just past Aldie.

We've had great luck with Snickers Gap www.snickersgaptrees.com
Family owned and operated. No more scotch pines, but we got a really nice fir last year.

We're kinda' over the live tree idea - too many falling needles and the dog gets way too interested in it! Anyway we're thinking of looking into those pre-lighted artificial trees. Has anyone gone that route? Anyone know of any good deals on artificial trees? Thanks. cj

We've always gone to Day Star Farm, off Reservoir Rd, off Evergreen Mill Rd. It's only 10 minutes away. In addition to a nice selection of trees, they have a hidden candy cane tree for the kids to find, pony rides and hot chocolate.
A nice family owned and operated farm.

We like Day Star too, and drove over yesterday to cut our tree for this year - surprise: they're closed Sundays! It's too bad, because we really liked playing and looking there, and the kids even remembered that there's one tree to search for that has candy canes on it.

Anyway, we found a very nice precut tree at Layng's which is off Evergreen Mill just a bit west of Belmont Ridge.

how much does these local farms charge for a ~6.5-7' tree? I got a lovely frasier fir from HD for like $20, and it lasted over a month... just wondering how much a DIY tree is =)

We have gone to Jacobsen's Tree Farm right off Route 15 in Lucketts for the past several years to cut our own tree--one of our family's holiday traditions. This year the selection was not quite as good, but we were still able to get a very nice, 9.5 to 10 footer for $20 (red tag bargain). Found out that they may be selling in the next couple of years to move to Berryville, so their trees were not quite as nice as past years. Still a great place for now though.

Looks like they are all sold out. What happened to the fire station selling them like last year? We got an awesome tree there and I drove by today and they had none out.

    hberg,
Sorry to hear that they are sold out. I'm not surprised. We went the Saturday after Thanksgiving and they were doing a brisk business. In fact, we saw several cars with a couple of trees tied on top.
