The HOA has just been notified that AAA will not be picking up trash today, Friday Dec 9th, due to the weather and safety concerns for its employees. Trash will be picked up tomorrow on the normal time schedule.

Thank you for letting us know! I'd better get it back out to the curb!

Fortunately I saw all of the neighbors trash still out last night, and left ours out as well. I did not see this post until today. Doesn't the HOA have a community e-mail announcement list that could also be used for such "breaking news" in the future? I would certainly sign up for such a list, and thought I actually had a few years back. (?)

This was also posted on the two message boards at Broadlands & Claiborne, and at the Community Center on Waxpool.

However, with ArmstrongConnect, as long as the homeowner updates their information page, the Staff will be able to email all homeowners in the near future. Any email list that was setup previously probably has not been kept up with.

Neil, thanks. For many of us in Southern Walk who enter and exit Broadlands from Winridge Drive, and don't drive past the community center on a daily basis, the existing community message boards are not really much use. Maybe the HOA can look into another message board near the new southern entrance? Email alerts are clearly the best alternative though!

That entrance is, and will remain, under the control of the Broadlands Commercial Property Association. I'll ask them about it at the next Board meeting.

Cliff - If not at the new "southern entrance" by the Harris Teeter site, maybe another community announcement board could be placed on Wynridge as one approaches the intersection with Claiborne (near the heavily wooded area, before the stop sign)? I would assume that area is under HOA control since there is a walking path.

Not trying to make a mountain (of snow or anything else) out of this mole-hill of a weather event... just meaning to provide some constructive criticism!

Why doesn't the HOA notify us by e-mail of this kind of thing? You don't have to live in southern area to miss the signs. HOA did not use this even when e-mail list was first set up. I have requsted this before.

The HOA does not have everyone's email address.
We have been collecting them voluntarily and we should come up with some way to use them for quick updates.
Maybe the Armstrong Connect site wil be a way to do this.

    jtarnow-
The location of announcements signs can be looked at. We can't have them all over the place because of the work involved at keeping them all updated. That's why we try to use the various entry points into the community.

I'd like to move the one on Claiborne near Broadlands Blvd. to the actual corner of Claiborne/Broadlands Blvd so there will be better visibility. As it is now, you only see it if you travel south on Claiborne. Anyone turning on Broadlands Blvd misses it. TerraBrook would not allow us to put it at the corner. Now that the HOA is taking over that section, we can move it if we want to.
