I got a quote from the one of the van metre subs and it was well over $1000 ... I thought that was little too high ...

You can buy a back-up at Home Depot for about $200 and have a plumber install it. I thought about installing it myself but didn't want to mess around with pipe fitting, etc. I have no experience with experience and wanted the thing installed correctly. The plumber was kind of expensive (around $350) but it saved me time and (I assume) it was installed properly.

BTW I got a quote from www.wackerplumbing.com 703-450-5565 this week to install a battery powered backup sump pump and their price was $660.
