    What’s this all about?

I heard that our Board of Director’s has cancelled the contract of the newsletter editor. I would think she was just doing her job, editing. What caused this to happen?

Getting to the mulch issue – remember the mulch flyers in the March edition of the newsletter? Both troop 1158 and troop 970 were there. BUT, one board member wanted only troop 1158’ s flyer included (his two sons are in troop 1158). The editor provided fair and reasonable access to the newsletter to ALL scout troops in the area with community events and included troop 970’s flyer too. YES, there are four scout troops that have membership by Ashburn boys. Now, looking at the April newsletter I see an order form for mulch but only for troop 1158!

I wonder how many other self serving flyers, articles and advertisements are in the newsletter every month.

If this is true I find it very disturbing. I'm sure our Board members who frequent these boards will shed light on this. I know that there was a cut off date on one of the scout mulches [which i bought]. Maybe a less sinister explaination awaits.

New member joined today and the first post is a flame against a member of the Board.

Talk about a post without any credibility...

Well I don't think its appropriate to discuss an employee's reasons for leaving or terminating in a forum like this. Why not call the General Manager if you really have a beef about it or contact them via email?

lol, there is a chance the person is legit and posted b/c of this alleged Board abuse of power.

If the editor of the HOA newsletter was let go, it will be interesting to find out why.

Steve: true, but it is very much appropriate if the Builder controlled board is abusing its power.

The contract the HOA had with the individual that produced our newsletter was terminated with cause for violating multiple points in the contract.
That's all that will be discussed about it on this forum.
I, or any Board member, are available to you if you want to know more about it.

Are you the editor? Seems like you have a lot of inside information on this issue

It would be disturbing if Troop 970 wasn't included, in some attempt to reduce their opportunity to serve the community.

In the Farm, we go out of our way to promote all Scout activities and Scout organizations, regardless of "home field advantage", including 1158 and 970.

I'd be very surprised if there was any perceived favoritism to any Scout organization over another.

well, one of the troops delivered last week, if their cut off date for orders was before the expected in-home date of the newsletter, it would have made sense for them not to be in there. But I don't know the circumstances and won't speculate beyond this.

My guess is there's more behind the story than can be told. I sincerely doubt anyone would deny "publicity" without valid reasons or judgement.

Please read VACliff's last post on this thread; it says it all.

It's been discussed before that this is all that can be said about the issue. Now, let's move on...

Acme1212 is the person who started this particular thread...

Broadlands HOA has published mulch flyers for several troops in the past. All one needs to do is review the newsletters over the past several years to verify this. To my knowledge we have NEVER refused to run one when requested by a resident.

True, but the allegation was this last one. Proof is in the future.

<edit> Let me be clear. I have faith in the elected Board members. I'm not as trusting with Developers.

Then contact one of the board members for all the information, not just one side of it.

Well since the allegations are already public it would behoove you for full public disclosure. What are you hiding?

It's called the high road Homer.

If you are really interested, call Wes or Cliff. If you just want to stir it up.. stop.

    Homer-
We do not believe a public forum is the place to discuss HOA personnel issues and decisions in great detail.
If you choose to believe that the severity of the charges by a terminated Contractor, who started this thread "pretending" to be someone else, warrants a need for more information, give me a call.

    clegg7g-
The Developer members of the Board did not make this decision. As in most issues related to the running of Broadlands, they defer to the decision of the resident members.

Look, I'm not stirring anything up. But the fact that you wont come out and say that a board member did not intentionally kick out a scout squad really disturbs me. I'm not asking why the contractor got fired just that everything is on the up and up.
