Can anyone give me a recommendation for a good local plumber that they have used?

Yes, looking for a good (and honest) plumber here too. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Curbside Plumbing- He is great and is a friend. He did our basement and has been to several neighbors. His name is Gary and his number is 703-323-8672.

Called Curbside at the number provided, got voicemail for someone other than Gary. Left a message but didn't hear back from them.

We just had Wacker Plumbing here and I have nothing but good things to say. I called this morning for a leak in a pipe under the kitchen sink. I was told someone would be here between 2 and 4. He showed up at 2:15 and was very polite and found the problem right away. He had it fixed in no time at all and was gone by about 2:40. We'll definitely call them again for future plumbing issues.

Called Wacker this morning (very friendly and helpful), they don't do the outside work we need but referred us to Dinsmore Plumbing who specializes in water main/service leaks (this is probably a whole different post). So far, they've been great. Have a time setup between 8:00 - 9:00 tomorrow. Will report on the experience.

Dinsmore Plumbing showed up at 8:45 and Joe was fantastic. He arrived, walked through, and wrote up the purchase order. By the way, $5,000 less than "My Plumber", who had quoted $7,500 and wouldn't call Ms. Utility or replant/replace any destroyed landscaping. Dinsmore will do the job for $2,800 and will take care of everything.

Apparently builders, including Washington Homes, my personal favorite, used Polybutylene or Polyethylene pipes which errode. These are the water service pipes that run from the meter to the house. Pipes are only 6 yrs old. Joe says he expects to spend some time in Ashburn in the future - just a matter of time. Will report out on the job once completed.

polybutylene pipes haven't been used since 1995 (when one of the largest class action lawsuits up till then was awarded because of it).

Narrows it down to Polyethylene I guess. Either way, erosion, new pipes, $$.

Wrapped up the work with Dinsmore Pluming this week. final price was $2,600. The job took about three days and they did a good job. Impact to the yard was minimal other than losing three shrubs and some sprinkler system pipe damage which they fixed. The staff in their home office is friendly and courteous.

Apparently they only work on water service mains, it's all they do. Would recommend them.

I recently got a quote from Wacker Plumbing ( installing a back up sump pump ) price sounded reasonable ... Did anyone get some plumbing work done by them ? Good or Bad experience ?

    Snoopy,

Do you mind sharing the quote for the back up sump? I'm interested in doing the same. I also had Wacker out last week for some minor issues. The guy did a great job.

Sure. It was for a battery powered sump pump that would act as the secondary sump pump. The quote we got was $660 .. parts and labor.... Hope this helps

Does Wacker do only repair? Will they do "new" work also?
