The nets on the basketball hoops next to the Southern Walk Pool court have been pretty much shredded to nothing for at least several weeks. They are pretty much just threads hanging from the rims at this point. I was hoping that the homeowners association could invest in two new nets for the court. I (and my son) would appreciate it.

Also, I was wondering whether it would be possible to trim back some of the stickers in the woods at the corner of the court nearest the playground. Balls sometimes roll in there, and it is nearly suicidal to try to retrieve them.

    Thanks again!

steve, using the forums is not an "official" way to contact the HOA, nor is it guaranteed that someone from the HOA will read this.
Your best bet is to call or e-mail directly:
    703-729-9704 or mailto:wschroeder@broadlandshoa.com (General Manager)

I know it isn't your responsibility, but you could buy two nets from Target for around $5 and easily install with a 6 foot ladder. It would probably be faster than waiting for the HOA to vote on purchasing new nets and getting 3 competitive contracts for the installation. ;)

Not only do those thorns hurt, they are also sharp enough to pop a leather basketball. I've already on my third ball in just over a year.

The HOA doesn't have to 'vote' for small purchases like this. They are part of the regular maintenance budget set aside for such things...

I realize that this is not an official way to contact the HOA. I would think that this would have just been taken care of eventually as regular maintenance. It is not like this basketball court is "off the beaten track." In fact it is very visible. I just wanted to try to get someone's attention here.

I just sent the same note that I posted here the other night to Wes. Hopefully we will see some action on this soon.

Steveruns26 in the furture you can just let me know (As of right now I am the entire rec commitee). My email is in the front of the newsletter The Basketball courts are not something that I check often and thus may not catch for a while so if you can let me know i can take care of it much sooner. I will put in a request to get them replaced and hope to get it done here shortly

I would much prefer residents give us a call about these types of issues than paying for more staff to ensure every corner of Broadlands has all things taken care of immediately. We could do that, but then , of course, HOA fees would increase accordingly. In another year or two we envision hiring a "Broadlands Grounds" maintenance person to take care of a lot of these small issues. I just don't see the need to do it now.
