Anyone have a really good tile person. I need to pull out and replace the tile in my bathroom(s). Bad grout that I really didn't notice allowed mold to grow behind the entire wall. I need the whole thing riped out and replaced.

OUCH! I think it is going to cost a few $$$ regardless of who you use.

I have never used them but I have heard a few good recommendations for Weller Tile .

We've used Terry O'Neill (O'Neill Tile, 703-450-1479, www.oneilltile.com) for a shower remodel and tiling of our foyer, entry hall and powder room. He has several pictures on the website, and I can send you pics of our projects if you wish.

A second recommendation of Terry O'Neill from me. He did our kitchen floor a few years ago and was extremely professional, does his own work, and is great to work with. He's very concerned with every detail, which is a nice-to-have with tiling.

On the other hand, we did our kitchen back splash through Sterling Carpet and were very unhappy. They contract out, and the guy we got had extremely poor craftsmanship.

I agree, Mr. O'Neil is great. I would recommend him in a heartbeat. He did our backsplash and master bathroom floor and the work was outstanding. His prices are very reasonable. I found him to be less expensive than Weller Tile.

First, thanks to everyone for recommending Terry O'Neill in this thread. I searched the forums for recommendations before hiring someone and used him based on the feedback here. He just finished re-doing our master bathroom, and his work was fantastic.

For those of you who re-did your bathrooms, who did you use for shower glass enclosure installation? Any recommendations or non-recommendations?

Glad to hear that Terry has yet another satisfied client! Enclosures Unlimited in Sterling installed our enclosure. The installation was fine, although the employee who took the measurements promised us something that wasn't actually possible. We wanted the glass panel on the "knee wall" to be set back a bit more than our original enclosure was, so that we'd have a ledge to put bath products on. He said that would be fine and supposedly measured it as such, but when the installer arrived with the enclosure, it had the same dimensions as the old one, and HE told us that our desired setup was NOT possible.

If we were to have another one installed, we'd definitely bite the bullet and spring for a frameless enclosure -- minimal hardware, thicker glass, really sleek look, but of course, more $$$. It would be so nice to not have all that gunk-collecting framework, though.

Does anyone have a recommendation on where to find tile for a backsplash at reasonable prices? Other than Home Depot or Lowes. Thanks

Elk, I would try Conestoga Tile off of 28 or Expo Design Center in Fairfax. Conestoga has a very nice selection of tiles but I am not sure if you can purchase directly or if they only sell to contractors. While Expo Design Center has a nice selection of tiles, you will have to order them and have them shipped to you, whereas Conestoga Tile has an assortment of tiles in stock.

    Hi Everyone,
I know of A-1 Absolute Tile Contractors, local to Broadlands. They live here. They are great! Affordable and dependable. Its a family owned business, father, sons, daughter kind of thing. I think the son who runs the company Rod comes from corporate, which is probably why they are so professional. They even give you camera access when you are at work. So you can check out who is entering your home and leaving. They are soooo clean! I like them. They did my granite countertops, tile floors, built my deck and finished my basement. All on time, on my budget. I recommend them to everyone I meet. Call them and you will see what I mean. Their number is 703-728-8836.

You could look at Sterling Glass. Don't have the number handy, but they are right off of Cascades Parkway.

What can I expect to pay for labor to have someone lay a ceramic tile floor? The guy at Image Flooring today told me anywhere between $7.00 and $14.00 a square foot! Just labor!! Yowza!
