    1. Has anyone noticed the flashing LED sign for Opus Jewelry in the Broadlands Village Center? Hard not to. I guess if Safeway Fuel can flood the area w/ their super bright LED price board, why not the jeweler?

    2. How about the new signs for the condo development across from Safeway? Ouch! It's bright!!! Take a look:

I know the HOA was able to get Sunoco to tune down their color scheme on the gas station - Any chance these items can be toned down as well?

    Just wondering.

    Thanks.

Your kidding on the Condo sign right?

It is pretty darn close to the same colors as the plants, You want to get rid of those too?

I tend to agree that it is a little "bright". Why not have it match more of the Broadlands entrance signs, instead of the plants.

No Joke. They still have an old sign too. I just think the new one is a little too bright. Here is their old sign:

Anyone have pics of the Sunoco color scheme before and after?

Lol, those used to be apartments. I dunno if I'd buy a condo that used to be an apartment :|

And how exactly is the LED sign 'flooding the area'? It can only be seen from the Broadlands Village Center and not from outside. Honestly, you can't compare that sign to the Safeway fuel sign. The fuel sign was 'outside' of the Center; the LED in question is IN THE JEWLERY STORE.

Now, if they stuck one on the back of the building, then it's another issue, but as far as I saw tonight, it is not viewable from ANY residential property. Am I wrong?

FWIW ... I don't think that sign is allowable under the standards that have been set for the Broadlands.

The shades of green and yellow are not the same as those on the other signs in the development. That sign is atrocious.

I noticed the condo sign this weekend. It looks really bad. I had the same initial reaction - maybe the HOA can make a suggestion?

I also think the jewelry store's LED is ridiculous. How does that draw customers in? It looks like something on the Times Square "Going out of Business" electronics stores. It detracts from the shopping center, but this one doesn't really bother the neighborhood, so don't know what the HOA can do.

I think you're correct here ... it isn't visible from outside of the shopping center, so the HOA really can't complain about it as being a visual nuisence. However, it may not conform to the Commerical Owners Association sign rules.

What about commercial vehicles parked overnight? I've see the tanning shop, Robeks and now the karate guy all have vehicles parking overnight. The karate guy has two large bus type vehicles. I guess it makes for great advertising. There has also been an unmarked tractor trailer parking over by the bank. Perhaps the owner of the rig lives in the condo development and can not park anywhere else.

I could really care less about the commercial signs or overnight vehicles. I don't see them everyday. I just feel the quality of our natural Boradlands community is in jeopardy.

lol that's been happening for a long time. For instance, Bull Frog Pond, no longer a pond and probably without bullfrogs.

Again, these are on commerical property ... all the HOA can do is mention it to the Commerical Owners Association (COA) to see if they can do anything. However, the parking lots are privately owned by the developers of the commerical properties, unless these vehicles are violating the COA rules, there's not much they can do.

We have a forum participant "property manager" who is the manager for the Saul shopping center. See the "new tenants at Broadlands" thread. I suggest you contact her with your concerns regarding the shopping center.

I would say that the owner of the jewelry store got what he set out to do....Attention. I personally have no problem with the sign. It grabs attention, and people that had no idea that a jewelry store was there, now do. I don't want to see businesses in this plaza fail.

I hope they don't get rid of the tanning shop van. It is a bright spot in that strip mall...

Any hopes that Opus Jewelry had of getting me through their door disappeared when I saw that tacky flashing sign. They might as well be selling jewelry on the streets from a briefcase as far as I'm concernded. They got my attention alright. But I don't think it was the attention they intended.
