Looking for recommendations on where to take my 3yr old for a haircut. I called Cartoon Cuts at Dulles Mall and I was a little irked that they couldn't even give me a price quote over the phone. Not even a price range. Hmpf.

Don't go to Cartoon Cuts at Dulles Mall!!! They butchered my daughter's hair and then attempted to 'camouflage' the blatant gaps in her bangs using a barette. My wife was in tears when she got back from the mall, not knowing what to do to fix it. I refuse to go anywhere near those clowns and recommend everyone else stay away also.

My wife now takes her to the Broadlands Barber shop by the Safeway and they ROCK. We always get the same woman to cut her hair and my daughter loves getting her haircut there. They're quick, cheap and do a very good job.

The Barber Shop works great for us; your mileage may vary, but try it once and see how you like it. Also, being so close, it's very convenient...

If you go to Cartoon Cuts, ask for Tran. I think she may be the only decent hair-cutter there. It is $14.99 per child.

Mr. Linux is right about Broadlands Barber. My entire family goes there. Never a problem.

I'm definitely with Mr. Linux and DAD4. We went exclusively to Broadlands Barber while we were living in Broadlands. Hien was great with my boys, who ranged in age from under 1 to over 3 when we were going there.

Broadlands Barber all the way. I try and have "Elizabeth" cut my boys hair, she does the best, but the others are good too.

I agree, Broadlands Barber ROCKS. My kids love Hien. She's awesome with children. My family even go to them when they come in from out of town.

    Good Luck~

My son won't even go NEAR Cartoon Cuts. We get to that end of the mall and he freaks out. I've taken both my boys to the new e-clips for kids in Ashburn Village. They're more expensive at $20.00 but I need to distraction of the DVDs to get them to submit to a haircut. And they do a good job.

There are a couple of great shops that I know about.

First one is in Herndon, VA next to Food Lion they have been there for about 45 years and do a great job with kids.

Second one is in Shepherdstown, WV - I know a little bit of a drive, but it is a beautiful drive and the town is a nice quaint historic town to visit. The Barbershop there is in a historic building and is decorated in all antiques. They also have a Humidor and sell cigars. One really cute thing they have for the little ones is an antique rocking horse that is a barber chair. My youngest had his first haircut there and as you can see from the photos below really enjoyed it. If you go ask for Marvin the owner and tell him LaDonna sent you.

This thread is giving Cartoon Cuts at Dulles a bad rap. We have gone there numerous times, the pricing is consistent as it is posted on the wall (some cuts may be more expensive and depend on shampoo etc like adult cuts); we always ask for Tran, however. Only Tran. Yes there is a man there who isn't the best with girlish haircuts. Tran is awesome with my 2 and 4 year old girls. She remembers their names and takes quite a bit of time with them. I constantly get compliments on their haircuts. The cuts are consistently stylish. In fact we just got cuts there tonight.
