My daughter is turning 3 in Feburary. We'd like to do something fun, but not held in our house. I have access to another community place for the function, but was hoping someone has a good suggestions for parties at that age. We don't belong to the Little Gym so that's not an option for us. I'm looking to only have less than 5 of her friends.

Actually, for Little Gym you don't have to be a member to have a party there, although I think it costs a little less.

I recommend Noodle Doodle across the street from the Food Lion on Ashburn Village Blvd. and Ashburn Farm Blvd. It is an art studio for kids and they do parties there. We had one there and it was fun for the kids and easy for the parents!

There is always Chuck E Cheese at Dulles - we had our 3 year olds party there in October and he enjoyed it.

The Curiosity Zone always seems to be a big hit. They get to make their own science "experiments" but it's nothing that a 3 year old can't do, I promise. They have different themes, like Make your own spa potions, secret agent, bubble party, slime party, cooking party.

Let's see, there's the Little Gym, and also that new gym place in the Safeway shopping center (J.W. Tumbles or soemthing like that). The karate places offer birthday parties. Noodle Doodle, Pottery U Paint, Nail Salons (yes, my daughter went to a girls "mani-pedi" party), Ashburn Ice House, Dulles Sports Plex (near the mall, sports themed parties), Pawsenclaws (at the mall, build a bear party), and yes, Chuck-E-Cheese *shudder*

That's all I can think of off the top of my head. We've been to so many, so if you want specifics about any of the venues, feel free to PM me.

We had our son's 3rd at the Ashburn fire house. It was a HUGE hit!

There is a large room for hosting the party and they provide a tour of the fire house and the kids get to climb all over a firetruck and ambulance.

Think it is only $50 to rent the hall.

Wow, great idea. I will have to remember that when my son gets older. He'll only be turning 1 at the end of this month.

My three boys attended this birthday and LOVED every minute of it. The tour was great and there was plenty of space for the kids to run around and enjoy themselves. As a parent attending the party it was a welcome change to the Chuck E. Cheese, Little Gym birthday parties.

Can you post more information on this? Is this the Ashburn Volunteer Fire & Rescue? Who is the contact person? My daughter thinks she'd like to have her party there.

    Thanks!

Consider Noodle Doodle. The kids love it. My daughter is enrolled and I have been to 2 bday parties there. They have a website.... noodledoodle.com

The Little Gym is also an excellent place for 3yr old parties.

We had our 3-yr old's b-day party there this summer and had a mediocre experience. We only realized this after seeing how well-managed Loudoun Fun Bounce was at a party this weekend. I think CZ is a good choice for older kids, but the 3-yr old setup was less than optimal. The instructors didn't get very hands-on with the kids - it was more like semi-organized play. Once we moved into the room where the kids could eat, the instructors didn't lift a finger to assist. They didn't do so much as open a pizza box. We were the last party of the day - at the end of the 90 minute session, it felt like last call at the bar (you don't have to go home, but you can't stay here). Again, no help or sense of 'thanks for your business' - just a begrudging - 'ok you can have 5 more minutes to clean up, but please hurry.' We won't be back.

I didn't think much of this was abnormal until attending a party at Loudoun Fun Bounce. Very well run, helpful staff, two-full hours in the gymnasium, etc. Night & day.

    SchwarzFamily,
Can you provide some info. on where Loudoun Fun Bounce is and what type of activities they have? Would you recommend for the 3 yr. age? Just getting ideas for our next party in the spring.

At mid/end of October Leesburg Pump it Up will be hosting parties. Highly recommend. We have been to a couple parties there. Much more safe than Lansdowne Jump Party.

Other great party suggestions are JW Tumbles in Broadlands Center and Baby Ballerina in Sterling.

I have torn out an ad for Amphora Bakery in Herndon where kids decorate bakery during a birthday party.

Has anyone done the Amphora party for children? That could be fun.

It's in Landsdowne, tucked back a bit in their Sports Complex. Here's the url - http://www.loudounfunbounce.com/

Highly recommend for a 3-yr old party. Caution - it's about $300 for the two-hours and you'll need to reserve well in advance. It's in high demand.

Claude Moore's new rec center has swimming parties for very affordable rates. $125 for the room for 90 minutes & that includes swim time for up to 15 kids. The $200 version includes cake, tableware, pizza & juice boxes. It's fun & easy:)

We had a party for my daughter at Amphora when she turned 6 and it was a blast. They keep the kids busy from beginning to end. I would highly recommend it.

My daughter attended a birthday party last winter at Loudoun Fun Bounce and broke her arm. It is safe and there is some safety associated with the party and there are employees trying to represent safety on each inflatable. There is some unsafe behavior allowed.

However, after attending parties at Pump It Up (Manassas, new location opening in Leesburg) I have to say it is even more safe and recommended. Children have to attend and listen to a safety video before they can get on the inflatables with Pump It Up. That does not happen at Loudoun Fun Bounce.

With both you have to sign a waver, like if your child breaks her arm they are covered.

So I have a good and recommended pediatric orthopedic Doctor if needed.
