Realtor Recommendations

We will be moving from our current house to another in Broadlands this Fall, and I wanted to see if anyone had a good experience with the sale of their house recently. What company/realtor did you use? Has anyone used Van Metre Real Estate (they offer an incentive to use them)?

I've recommended Tobey before- I really think he is the best. Tobey Converse with Infinity Realty is a broker/realtor - you can check him out on his website and also look at homes if you want http://www.tobeyconverse.com/ 703-470-7094. He has been in the business for many many years and is a bulldog in negotiations. He represented us when we built in Southern Walk, and again 2 years later when we sold and moved into a bigger place down the street in Southern Walk. He did open houses (he baked a Mrs.Smith apple pie in the oven one of those Sundays- YUM did it smell nice and homey!), used a talking house, did virtual tour pics, sold our house! Helped us a buy a new one! We have been working with him for a long time and many of our famiy and friends have teamed up with him to buy/sell their houses and have been really happy.
I swear he is a walking real estate encyclopedia.
It's a big investment and a big decision. You are really smart to go with a referral - these message forums have been really great for that!

We also moved within Broadlands and our real estate agent was Mindy Louis with RE/MAX. She did what very few agents could do last year at this time when we were selling our house (Jan - Feb). The market was so slow but she sold our house in Overland Park in less than 2 months. Then she did it again for a neighbor! There were many similar houses sitting vacant and unsold around us for months before and after. She was awesome to work with too! She also uses a professional home stager at no cost to you, which definitely can give you an edge. She lives in Ashburn and she is very familiar with real estate in Broadlands.

I have to respond- we used Bob Caines of Remax Select- 703-547-0665. We have bought and sold multiple homes with him and he is really great. Someone above mentioned what their realtor did for them in a slow market- well when we put our house on the market in April 06- Bob put up coming soon signs. Someone came to see it prior to MLS and he sold it for us- WITHOUT ever going on the market. So, naturally I am a big fan. I am certain part of wht he sold it is his personality and the way he talked to the other agent before they ever saw the house, explaining the benefits of our house versus all of the other they had seen. I am glad to see that we all have good realtors to deal with, I have had a few run ins with not so good realtors either, when you find a good one, you feel lucky!

 

We also used Kristi Stavrou at Long and Foster and got great results.
