I'm looking for a good local dentist. This one is near our gym, and I was wondering if anyone has been to him.

    Thanks!

Dr. Howard works in Dr.Ray's Leesburg office and she is excellent. Everyone I have met through their offices are very nice and professional. Dr. Howard was so thorough and does great work! They have a website...not sure what it is...
Also, Dr.Lans is great! (Plus he was a silver sponsor for Broadlands Live last year!)

I see Dr. Vied in Dr.Ray's Ashburn office near Food Lion and I think she's great.
    And I HATE dentists.

We have used Paul and Karen Callahan, DDS, for years. Great care, great service, excellent with kids and they are good people. Office phone, (703) 444-4104. They are located near Regal Cinema.

Dr. Ray is our dentist, very nice. Have had no real work from him, just checkups and cleanings.

I used to go to him. I took my daughter in once for a checkup and he was horrible to her. At the time she was about 7 and his manner was very gruff. She wasn't being whiny or figity, but was in pain. She was trying to cope, but I guess not to his satisfaction. I immediatly let him know the neither of us would be returning. With adults he is ok, but don't take your kids to him, he just doesn't have the "bedside manner" for them.

I've had to have what I consider pretty major dental work done over the past year and a half (two root canals & resulting crowns). I've seen both Dr. Greco (formerly Dr. Vied before her marriage) and Dr. Ray at both the Ashburn and Leesburg offices.

Dr. Greco is amazing and I can say that having spent more than the usual amount of time in her chair. Great personality and I *almost* looked forward to going in there each time. I like to know what's going on when I'm in the chair so she's happy to fill me in on the details - but that was at my request. Don't worry, she won't talk about it unless you *want* to know. Many people just want to open their mouth and pretend they aren't there.

Dr. Ray was very businesslike and professional with me - he's a perfect fit with my husband's personality. My husband likes him a lot (and my husband's father is a dentist so he's judging off of that basis). I'd go see him again but I am sold on Dr. Greco and prefer her, but that's me.

What I like best about this practice is how conservative they are when it comes to trying to save healthy teeth. The problem with my two teeth was that they were cracked - not that I let them rot out of my head. The practice didn't just say "let's cap them" but they tried fillings and then replacing the fillings before finally sending me to the endodontist for the root canals. They didn't make a penny off of replacing the fillings they did earlier in the year but it was all about trying to save a tooth.

My husband and I both went to Dr. Ray. Neither of us really liked the office but it was convenient so we kept going. The last straw for us was when I had a sore tooth and thought the filling might be cracked. He said he couldn't see anything on the xrays but said it sounded like the filling was indeed cracked. He said I needed an "emergency" appointment for a crown. I told him I didn't want to do a crown, but asked him to replace the filling and if that didn't work, then I would go to a crown. He said no, that the filling was too large. So, I proceeded out to the front desk where they told me the first appt. was 6 weeks away. I argued with her saying that I couldn't eat or drink unless it was through a straw and that 6 weeks was not acceptable. She told me they would put me on a waiting list but that was all she could do. I left in tears and called my insurance company. They recommended Dr. Paul Finamore. I called their office and got an appt. that afternoon. He took more xrays and said he too couldn't see anything but it sounded like the filling was cracked. He replaced the filling and I have not had any other problems with it. That was over a year ago. I highly recommend Dr. Finamore - he is in Sterling.

I took my daughter to Dr. Han this morning (corner of Claiborne & Ashburn Village Pkwy). He was wonderful with her! We'll be going back!

After Dr. Vied/Greco left Dr. Ray's office, I switched to Dr. Bachour. She did my last crown (another cracked tooth) and I like her a lot. Not as much as Dr. Greco, but it's hard to compare becasue I liked her SO much. Dr. Bachour got me in for emergency visits and even came in on her day off to take care of a bite problem. No complaints.

I've had some work done by Dr. Navar and wasn't very impressed. The work was fine, but she was not very personable. I felt like a number each time. Plus there seems to be a lot of personal chatter in the office and that bothered me.

I sure wish I could find a "dental spa" type place with TVs on the ceiling, etc. That would be a good experience!

We use Dr. Mayo in Leesburg (there are actually 3 Dr. Mayos-2 sons in their thirties and their dad). They are great! Just my $.02

I also saw Dr. Navar and was afraid to ask / talk to her about my treatment. She was not very approachable.

I will not go back there and am currently looking for another dentist around here. Location was the killer but not the service.

    My 2 cents.

I've been going to Dr. Ray's office in Ashburn for about three years, however I've never seen the man or had him do any dental work. I've always had Dr. Navar or another gentleman who is not listed on their Web site and may no longer be there.

Anyway, I've had one filling replaced and one crown repaired in that time, along with routine cleanings, and they've always been professional towards me.

As far as personality goes, I could really care less if Dr. Navar doesn't tell me her life story while working on me since she is highly competent. If you want jokes and personality, I'll give you the name of a dentist in Old Town Alexandria/Mount Vernon that you can drive 45 mintues to go see.
