I have a townhouse in Southern Walk. I want to put a ceiling fan in an upstairs bedroom. Currently there is a plate in the ceiling. Does anyone know if these townhouses have the brace in place to accommodate a ceiling fan?

If you're talking about a round plate in the ceiling, I'm assuming you gave a ceiling drop. That means it ready for a light or ceiling fan. It will take the weight of a ceiling fan or light. I've done several of these already.

me too. i paid the builder to put the rough-ins in...and the electric is run and the box has the support that you screw the fan to.

yea, that sounds like a rough-in for a light/ceiling fan. They install a cross-brace of wood when they pre-wire these to hold the weight so you will be fine. The ceiling fan is real easy to install and depending on how high, think about one with a remote control for the fan and light. I love mine that is on a 12 foot ceiling...
