Been reading a lot of postings regarding the best burgers in town. I'm personally more of a wing guy. When we first moved here, we hit the Wing Factory quite often (it's especially good for kids), but i've never found the wings to be top notch. Lot's of gimmicky flavors, but generally mediocre. Tried them at Foster's Grille the other day and they were absoutely inedible. Broadlands Pub - same.

Oddly, the best I've had in the area come from the Ashburn Cafe. Order hot and specify that you don't want the sauce on the side (they do this sometimes for no reason). It's far and away our favorite informal restaurant in the area. Everything on the menu is great, especially the wings.

I'd be interested to know where else to find a good wing. Thoughts?

buffalo wings house in herndon- we always enjoy the wings there, especially when accompanied by live reggae! service and atmosphere can be hit or miss but the wings have always been hot meaty, flavorful and not too greasy. paired with curly fries- can't miss!

Wish we had a BW3 (Buffalo Wild Wings & Weck) around here. I think the closest is in Fredericksburg? Never actually been to that one but have been to many others around OH. Everytime we are there we always pick up a few bottles of their sauces and then we are able to make our own at home. Always turns out great! Still would be nice if there was one closer. We always enjoy having wings, beer and playing that interactive game thing they have!

Has anyone eaten the wings at Glory Days? I know their coming to the Broadlands Southern Walk Shops and I wonder how the wings and other menu items are at the other locations in our area.

We make the onr hour drive to Buffalo Wild Wings (BW3 is the nickname, which stands for Buffalo Wild Wings and Weck, originally from Buffalo, where weck is a special kimmelweck roll used when serving certain sandwiches out there) in Winchester when we have a craving.

From BW3, my mom loves mango habanero (hot), I love Caribbean Jerk (Buffalo Wing House Caribbean Jerk is aweful!) and my husband loves hot and medium. BW3 has the best wings away from Buffalo!!!!!!!!!!!

Glory Days has Beef on Weck and you can buy Kimmelweck rolls at Wegman's in the bakery. I have family in Buffalo and love Beef on Weck. It was nice to finally see it down here.
On the subject of wings and Buffalo. Has anyone else been to the annual Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo? We went two years ago while visiting family. It's a real hoot. I love the "Bobbing for Wings" competition and the 0.5k race.

I actually think the Caribbean Jerk wings from Kirkpatricks are the best in the area. They are very hot, but so good. They are a staple at my house as an appetizer for get-togethers.

There is one in Winchester (which is closer than Fredericksburg).

I loved them when I lived in Richmond...the one in winchester is ok.

Has anyone tried the wings at OSH, while under the new management?

Many places around here serve good wings. But when my family of five has a hankering for really good wings some nights, we make the 11 hour round trip to Dakota J's on Broadway in New Haven Connecticut. Sure it may sound a little far, but when you crave good wings, you just drive with your stomach.

Nobody likes Hooters? Sure it's tacky and I could care less about having a fake boob rubbed on the back of my head for a bigger tip, but you can't beat the wings. Luckily, they sell the sauce in a jar.

yea, gotta agree with ya there brim... tacky but great wings. Not that they have the only good wings around but sometimes you just get a taste for theirs. And I like the wings from Famous Dave's too. The BBQ version are very tasty and they offer a diablo BBQ sauce that adds a nice kick. The quality of their wings is what sets them apart, large and meaty and very consistent quality. And I think the Buffalo Wing factory has decent wings... good sauce but the wing itself is suspect sometimes. Really depends on the mood and how far to drive.

Sure, Hooters are -- I mean is -- great, but as far as a local place, I'd have to say KPs Southwest wings are the best in Ashburn.

If you include the immediate area, I'm with redon1 when it comes to the Buffalo Wings House. That place is far superior to the Wing Factory, both food and bar. Of course, considering that the owner(s) of the Wings House defected from the Wing Factory, that should be no surprise. The menu is/was identical, except for the names, which is pretty funny.

If this thread was about the owner making money, the Wing Factory would win hands-down, since the cost (and quality) of both labor and food at that joint is bare minium. I know, some of you like that place, your kids have fun there and you'll be upset when you read this. But the place is simply average and there are places that make their signature dish a lot better than they do. Sorry. And I haven't even mentioned Jimmy's Old Town tavern in Herndon, where the owner is from Buffalo. Or Ned Devine's in Herndon.

My wife and I enjoy the wings at "Wings" It is a little takeout place behind the Dryclean Depot on Rt. 7 in Sterling. The owner is very nice. Not a bar or anything but for great wings it's our favorite.
