I am new to the Ashburn area and need to select a good PCP. I would prefer someone not to far away who is good about giving referrals or prescriptions over the phone (if possible). Also, someone who can get you in an out of the office without too many delays or waiting. Any suggestions?

    Thank you in advance!!

Internal Medicine Associates, in Reston... They are in the hospital center there. Great group of doctors. I have been going there for almost 11 years now. Dr John Valenti is my doctor. 703-437-5532

We've been very happy with Dr. Cohn at Broadlands Family Practice. He's seen everyone in the family, including a three year old, and has interacted well with all of us.

I second the Broadlands Family Practice recommendation. We have seen all of the doctors there and really like them. (Was a little more uneasy with a new nurse practitioner but maybe she -- or I -- was just having a bad day.) I'm not sure about the prescriptions over the phone part; I guess you'd have to ask that of any doctor you interview.

I just switched to Broadlands Family Practice in the fall. I like being able to schedule appointments from their website and getting Rx renewals through the website as well. One thing I don’t like is how they give you test results. I’ve had blood work done twice and both times I never received a call from them, like I was told I would, nor was my information entered in the automatic phone system them have. Both times I had to call and ask for my results over a week later.

At other physicians’ offices, I’ve been able to get test results within a couple of days.
