Re: Italian Ice & Gelato Coming Soon to Puccio's!

    meaton 18 and others--

For authentic Italian gelato--we mail order (frequently unfortunately) a brand called Ciao Bella Gelato. Wegmans carries SOME NOT ALL of their flavors.

Ciao Bella offers a chocolate hazelnut gelato (which is what Nutella's mixture is by the way). Also Ciao Bella has no trans fats and their products are the BEST.

They also offer other ice cream flavors and gelatos. They mail order by Fedex in styrofoam containers with dry ice and NO IT DOES NOT MELT! Great flavors--over 50-100. Costs for 4 pints (of any custom flavors or others on website) is around $39.95.

    Web site is below--

Re: Italian Ice & Gelato Coming Soon to Puccio's!

    gryphon--

I am glad you are trying my recommendations for Ciao Bella Gelato and other products they produce. We enjoy the whole line. Let me know what your impressions are of their gelatos.

Of course, DO NOT FORGET to place your order when received IMMEDIATELY in the freezer for best results. Read Ciao Bella's shipping policy. We order other products from numerous companies that ship on dry ice or ice packs. We have not had any problems with companies and their products.

The companies that I deal with are phenomenal for their products and services. As you may imagine, having quads and almost 7 month old twins puts quite a "dent" in our food budget. Therefore, I order the SAME products that stores like Wegmans and Whole Foods purchases from their distributors for their stores.

If you or any other person would like resources for ALL kinds of foods, dairy, organic foods and products, meats, produce, etc.--ask I will give the list. I know who the distributors and Amish/Mennonite farms that Whole Foods and Wegmans uses for their stores. Part of my business is to travel to trade shows regarding foods, innovations in the food market, and other trends.

Also, since I freelance articles regarding Food Issues/Trends, Consumer Education, etc.-- I do not mind divulging my sources. Also, not just food products, but ordering organic companies cleaning and laundry products--I will provide info. I have other resources available
    (i. e. appliance info, homeowner issues, business-related--see Kaosdad on 2U server shipping query--etc.)

If anyone poses questions regarding the above info--ask and I will post on the Helpful Hints thread.

    Good eats--

    Enjoy--Foodie:clap:

    Deliguy and others--

Yes, Ciao Bella gelato is great! We order their FULL LINE of products which some restaurants/delis and grocers do not carry.
Some restaurants do order just CERTAIN flavors and we like to be able to try them all! That way you can get what you want and quicker than waiting if you have to "Feed that gelato (Italian) craving!"

For those "foodies" who wish to try Ciao Bella--web site is--

    www.ciaobellagelato.com (Ciao Bella Gelato's site.)

By the way--gryphon ordered some this week on my recommendations. Gryphon let us know what you thought of the gelato when you receive it--post your opinions. We love it and have not had any issues with Ciao Bella's service or deliveries.

    Good eats--

I second that wholeheartedly!! It's not gelato, but Rita's Italian Ice is great!! Their "gelati" is a layered italian ice, frozen custard concoction - very refreshing.

I third that! Husband and I had custard there one night and did a carryout for daughter and boyfriend. Holding the boyfriend's "Chocolate Decadence" Misto Shake on the way home, I had to seriously restrain myself from tasting it. He said it was great!

    gryphon and others--

Glad you are enjoying your Ciao Bella gelato. What flavors did you order? Also, did the gelato get delivered in the ice packs/dry ice containers? Any problems--just wanted to "point out" how easy and simple it is to order this type of products online.

    We are enjoying ours also.

    Thanks,

    Foodie:clap:

There's a Rita's in Ashburn now? Wow, awesome. They put one in down in Williamsburg much to many students' excitement, but it still is no match for Sno-to-Go... *drools and misses school* :p (Granted, Sno-to-Go isn't gelato, but it is the most amazing frozen treat known to man... or at least to W&M students.) But yes. Hooray for Rita's in Ashburn! Certainly, it isn't the best gelato in the world but it is yummy, and decently priced.

Nah, I actually did NOT take a taste and have been regretting it ever since. The intense chocolate bouquet was intoxicating!

Rita's owner was very nice and suggested that 2:30 p.m. is a good time to stop by for "tastings" as it's usually pretty slow at that time.

Stopped at Puccio's one night, but they must close early - or earlier than 9, anyway. But then, they ARE a deli so one wouldn't expect them to stay open for gelato, I guess.
