HAHAHA LOL, I just joked about that with one of my neighbors last night. I am gonna name it "SavetheGreenway Toll Path." And the following year I'm gonna raise the toll by $1.00, and so fourth

Just wait until the homes on the other side of Croson are done. That community will have a tot lot, just like ours....wait, VM cancelled that. So I guess people will want to sneak from SW across Croson to use their Tot lot. Nice.

Our community has an abundance of creative (although often sick and twisted) folks willing to help out when asked -- many thanks to all for your suggestions and your empathy. We may try some of these ideas, although if I told you which ones then it wouldn't be nearly as much fun!

It is a frustrating situation to have signs up, sprinklers going, and us (the homeowners) sitting in our yard and adults STILL walk through and act surprised when we ask them to please not cut through our property. As for the issue once the homes and tot lot on the otherside of Croson are built, we know it will be even worse -- I keep imagining the swath of destruction (our lawn) of the Japanese beetles (adults with strollers) as they seek out fruit trees (the tot lot)! It won't be pretty . . . but hopefully by then VM will have come to their senses and built the privacy fence promised to several home owners backing up to Croson (ha ha ha! Sorry, couldn't keep a straight face!)

Please keep the suggestions rolling -- and for those of you who may have seen yourself in this thread, please respect your neighbors' property and use the paved community paths and not our lawns.

Set up a trap using small tnets stakes and piano wire.

Set the stakes so that they are about 4 inches off the ground. Crosscross piano wire or fishing wire to make a trap for people to fall in.

Oh wait you cant do that because if they break their ankle trespassing on your yard they will sue you and you will pay.

But on the real set up some lawn chairs in the are that people cut through and shoot them with super soakers filled with water and tabasco sauce.

Thanks, but I am a smoker and I think that most people think I am a little scary. Just imagine a 6 foot 6 tattooed man with PTSD living next door.

Oh and I <gasp> drink beer fresh from the kegerator.

Broken skull - if your not busy on a Saturday or Sunday morning it sounds like you would be a great addition to our team of yard-backers!

Thanks for not lighting the firecrackers near me. And I dont even smoke in my own house except if we are having friends over and break out the hookah(with tabacco dont get any funny ideas) because I dont like the way stale smoke smells.

    Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder ...

In other words, the guy has been in situations where the sounds such as those made by firecrackers were deadly rather than just annoying.

LOL... I guess the other alternative is to jump on my bike and ride circles on their lawn - think that would get their attention?

Well, it happened again - dog pee'd in the neighbors yard, on our little medium strip and on my lawn. It's ridiculous - if I resort to being juvenile then I've stooped to their level. Any one have reasonable suggestions please? I'm not a fanatic when it comes to my yard but I water, mow and trim to keep it looking presentable.

Really the only thing you can do is confront them. The HOA isn't going to get involved with this. If they are damaging your property, take them to court. I'd suggest at this point you invest in some video surveillance. It's been done with success before:

Because taking someone to court is always the answer.

We had plenty of trouble with this, particularly dog issues, when our section of the neighborhood was newer.

I wondered then if everyone was so psyched with their OWN new lawn that they didn't even want their own dogs (or kids) on it, and therefore used the (equally new and nice) lawns of others.

My neighbor the plumber put in an auto sprinkler, and set the motion detectors so that anyone who crossed from the sidewalk onto his property got a free bath.

I wrote to the community magazine and offered a deal: people could keep using my yard as a dog toilet, and I would just start leaving my kids used diapers on theirs. Think about the deal: my kids have been toilet-trained for years now!

It's gotten better through LOTS of community reminders though.
