A few people have expressed interest in homebrewing and it got some people thinking. Would anyone be interested in a broadlands homebrew club? Just something where once a month or so we got together and tasted each others homebrews, discussed techniques, had some good natured competitions, etc..etc.. If anyone is interested get back to me either in PM or in this thread.

And moderators, if you feel this thread is in the wrong place, feel free to move it.

As I do not homebrew myself, I will gladly volunteer to be the completely impartial "taste judge".

I don't homebrew now but would really like to learn from the local "BrewMasters". Definitely, count me in!

That is a club in the area. I was thinking about something a little more local. Where you can walk to someones house, or drive a short way. To learn about homebrewing and to just also discuss the gift know as beer.

My first taste of the batch now bottled will be august 1st. If it is a go, then you will know somewhere after that when your "impartial tasting" will be.

Honestly I will tell you that your best bet is to talk to Derek at My Local Home Brew Shop. He is located in seven corners. And get the book "Joy of Homebrewing" by Charlie Papazian. I got everything I needed, but went all out and spent 200 dollars. Stay away from the Mr. Beer. I have heard nothing but bad things about them. When we get all the details together for the brewclub I will show you the setup that I have. I think it was the deluxe kit which was 99.00 from my local home brew shop.

    My LHBS

They dont do web ordering but I am all about supporting local businesses over online faraway businesses. Derek will answer all your questions.

I had the Mr. Beer a few years ago and tried it out. The beer was undrinkable. It should be called Mr. Bad Beer (in my opinion).

Is it possible to home-brew cider? If so, I'd like to learn - and join. :)

I'd love to home-brew lambic, but I think it requires wild Belgian yeast which may be in short supply around here.... :)

It seems like we have enough interest to figure out a date, time and place so we can all meet up if we havent already.
