I started to notice gifts left in our yard recently, of different sizes and colors, not to gross you out but just saying it's different dogs. I have two small dogs and it's not theirs as I scoop after they are done.

Also know my neighbors dogs are not causing it......

In the past week, I've been seeing loose dogs with collars running around and pooping on neighbor's yards......by the time I go outside to see where they go, they are gone.

So far I've seen 3 different dogs loose, big ones too, I fear that my 3 and 4 year old as well as our two small 10 pound dogs might get bit by an unfriendly loose dog.

Dogs running loose are in violation of the Loudoun County ordinances, I'm not sure if you call the Sheriff's non-emergency number, or the number for the county shelter.

Are they the same people who feel that they have the right to park with the rear bumper of the car blocking the sidewalk? Oh, the long walk from the street must be too painful!

I know its boring, but where I live there are quite a few dogs around and I rarely see any that is not properly picked up. I am sure it can be a problem where the housing is denser, but around my house, my dog owning neighbors are great!

The only way the HOA could possibly do anything about it is if they personally witness someone's dog making and leaving a mess and are willing to speak to that fact if we eventually get the owner's in for a hearing. The HOA cannot send out poop patrols to clean the sidewalks, common areas, and streets nor can it police the irresponsibility of residents.

Something deep down inside makes this thread remind me of a scene from the Jim Carrey movie "Me,myself and Irene."

On Sunday morning, I took my dog out on the path behind Larchmont and noticed that a new trash receptacle and baggie dispenser had been installed recently. Thanks!

I also noticed a massive steaming pile that had been left ON THE PATH not 20 feet from the new trash can and dispenser.

    UNBELIEVABLE!

I think I told this story before...coming home one day I saw a dog walker allowing his dog to do business along the fringes of the wetland. This man started to walk away and I shouted "Excuse me" , " Aren't you going to pick that up"? He replied "No, I don't have to if it's in the woods" I told him it didn't matter where the dog pooped where he replied that the dog had already covered it up with leaves and it was too late! While he hurriedly began to walk away I told him I would make sure to take it up with Wes Schroeder! His reply? Who's Wes? The poopy bags were less than twenty five feet away. Go figure.

    redon1 and others--

Maybe "y'all" should send the "reprobates" to our farm; and my quads can show them how to clean out chicken coops, barn stalls, and pitch hay in our stalls. Also, they can clean out the pig pens--maybe they will know what "real poop" is like to clean up. Believe you me--they'd learn fast or not!
Also, while they are here--they can also clean out our dairy cows' stalls.

Oh, I forgot, they do not like to clean up after their dogs--or perhaps themselves. Never mind--my kids would probably do it better--ha-ha!;) ;)

You are right--that is ridiculous--that they won't clean up after their dogs--we do.

Just FYI, I have seen 2 coyotes in the Southerwalk area of the Broadlands recently. Maybe this is what is leaving the "gifts" behind.

The sighting were on the path that runs paralelle to Demott (behind T8erman's house).

Let's not forget the two red fox hanging around Demott, and will someone teach the raccoons how to pick up after themselves - I have a litter of five, six if you count the mom, and they're doing their business in my yard.

One time we walked our dog after dark and we just weren't able to see well enough to pick "it" up at the time. My girlfriend picked it up on the walk the next day.

I felt bad leaving it overnight and wished I had a flashlight with me, but it wasn't forgotten about. :)

In the good spirit of keeping this thread alive - I'd like to add another one...The other morning at the entrance to our cul-de-sac I observed one of the renters (again) waiting for her dog to finish his business. So this time I slowed down and watched thinking I could shame her into cleaning up after her dog. Well, so much for embarassing someone. She took her barefoot self and dog and went home! Yes, barefoot and standing in the area where everyone who lives in that corner walks their dog.
