I havent been since crazy high school days but my family is going next week - staying in a friends condo on 144th street. Any recomendations for things to do? Places to eat? (Kids want steamed crabs, we want happy hour by the beach) Fun things for kids?

    Thanks!

I've always liked going to Fager's Island to eat dinner. I can't remember the exact street address, but it is located just a block or two away below the 60th street bridge, on the bay side. There is an indoor dining area and an outdoor area on the large deck. If you eat on the outdoor deck, you seat yourself (find an open table), so it's best to go early, like before 6pm if you want to find a table. The best part about eating outside is that you can stay as long as you want, and you get to watch the sunset over the bay. Great views! They even play music over the outdoor speakers to accompany the mood right as the sun sets. It's amusing the first few times (the music playing), but gets old after you go for the umpteenth time, but I think that if it's your first time, then it should be fun.
