Does anyone know if there is a local clothing drop bin around here? These bins are usually found near gas stations or convenience stores, maybe run by Goodwill. I've been on the lookout, but haven't seen any while driving around the area. I have various clothing (kid's and adult's) and shoes to donate. I suppose I could go to Freecycle, but sometimes it takes more effort than it's worth.

I remember seeing one in Old Town Ashburn. If you know, on Ashburn Road, right where it crosses the W&OD trail, there is a gravel parking lot on the right and an Oak Furniture place.... it is there and I think it was a Goodwill bin. It is toward the edge of the gravel area, more towards the south side.

If you don't mind waiting for a couple weeks, the National Children's Center charity will be doing another pickup in Broadlands on Sept. 5th. We've donated to them many times; they leave a tax deduction receipt at the door when they do the pickup. Their phone is 301-422-1212.

Thanks for both your responses. I'll call the pickup number, and if it doesn't work out, I'll take a drive to Old Town Ashburn.

Christian Fellowship Church takes donations. Check their website for times. We've donated household items and clothes several times to them.

Or, you can drive to Leesburg and drop off at the Salvation Army.

The location on Old Ashburn Rd is the site for the soon to be home of The Good Shepherd Thrift Store, part of Good Shepherd Alliance that supports homeless shelters here in Loudoun County. They are currently accepting clothing donations on most Saturdays, when they are there running yard sales to introduce themselves to the community. They hope to have their building renovated and open for business and donations full time by December. You can also take donations to their current store in front of the Regal Cinemas in Sterling.

There is a drop bin for Planet Aid located by the Suds Carwash in Ashburn (across from Bloom and near the new IHOP).

You can email them and request a receipt.
