    Since the pool season officially ends today I would like to get some input into what the residents would like (or needs) to be upgraded in the pool buildings. All three pool houses are starting to show their age. I plan on asking the HOA board for money in next years budget for several items that need repaired before next season, but I wanted to see what you the community think needs to be addressed. Also please let me know of any cleanliness problems that you saw this past year in and around the pool areas. I tried to stress cleanliness this year and I wondered of anyone noticed a difference?
    Thanks all for your input
    Staci

    We generally use the Summerbrooke Pool and I have to say that other than some routine maintenance issues, the buildings seem fine to me. Can't say for the other buildings.

    I cant think of anyting really that needs to be done. Kudos to the lifegaurds who had to deal with wild children, snotty peers and rude parents sometimes(I saw more of one than the other..wanna guess?). They kept their cool and did a great job.

    Maybe put up some barf bags around the pool?:p

    At one time I had heard there was going to be a way for residents to check the status of each pool as far as what its current capacity and if it was closed or not via a website.

    Might save some of us some trips due to hygienic mishaps if its closed or full to capacity.

    Plus it has a pretty cool geek factor being able to view the status of all the pools in realtime from a webpage

    Is that still in the works for next season?

    That was never a specific feature of the product.. that was brainstorming of ideas by me and others when others were questioning why we need a checkin system or electronic system, etc

    Don't rule it out for next year. It all depends on how many 'free cycles' the Tech Committee has to do the coding, interface, etc. Honestly, it's something that *I* would love to see implemented and I'll do my best to get some traction on it, which basically means I'll be doing the coding :). Right now, most of our time is being spent with the new website design, etc. Once that's out the door and we're done fine-tuning it, we'll start adding the 'cool' features, such as the pool interface.

    My husband and I saw some algae growth around the Summerbrooke pool these past few weeks. Some parts worse than others. Other than that, we had a fun time bringing our daughter to the pool this year. She learned a lot :)

    This would be my only suggestion too. I have a toddler who like to sit at the "beachy" part and right there on the cement lip there was algae growth that I didn't particularly want him to touch.

    Lifeguards were great and got to know my son and greeted him every day by name.

    We had a great summer at the pool! :clap:

    The one time I tried to use the showers (at Southern Walk), the curtains didn't seem to do very well - came off the hooks.

    I wonder if there is thought of more shade structures; Summerbrooke seems to have limited space, and I noted that the Community Center doesn't have any structures, besides small umbrellas (but maybe these are enough?).

    It is sad to see the pools closed in September. The weather around here could support another few weeks... maybe just one pool?

    My husband and I were talking about that same thing - it would be great if at least one of the pools could stay open for the weekend at least thru Sept.

    In terms of the buildings, I don't think there is any big ticket improvement that should be done. I suggest that everything gets cleaned and painted.

    A maintenance item, on the decks, some of the chairs and lounges are showing their age with broken/deteriorated webbing. A bigger $ upgrade would be additional shade - more umbrellas or more of the awning type setups.

    It has been discussed here before and I can't remember the outcome, but lighting for the Southern Walk pool to enable later hours would be nice. This pool is more popular with the older kids and later hours (10 PM?) would provide a needed recreational outlet (see the other threads on this topic).

    The stepped up security seemed to do the trick with reducing the vandalism and associated pool closures. Perhaps a security camera system would be a cheaper cost in the long run.

    The cost estimate we got for the lighting was astronomical. We are looking to extend the hours until 9pm for at least most of the summer. There's enough light to support it (we think.)

    I second this... :popcorn2:

    A snack bar would be nice but not sure were it would go at any of the pools.

    Funny, my husband and I had this conversation yesterday, and I saw this today. We vote for:
    Cleaning and painting;
    Mats that don't kill your feet;
    I think the guards at SB kept the toilets pretty clean, considering.
    New shower curtains with weights at the bottom and reinforced rivets;
    Can't remember, are there soap dispensers in the showers?
    Most tables could be replaced;
    Replace whatever chairs and chaises need to be replaced;
    How about an additional, more curly slide at the Olympic pool?
    Snack bar would be awesome;
    Make sure all the fountains work at Summerbrooke.
    We didn't notice the algae, I'm shocked with the amount of chlorine they pumped into that pool!!
    Open the pools maybe just for the weekends in September. It's certainly hot enough, and weekends only would be a nice treat.

    We'd vote for a snack bar. Our last pool had a great one in the area the size of the table area at So.Walk pool. It provided jobs for kids in the summer and the food was simple and popular...hot dogs, fruit salad, nachos. Most of it able to be boiled or microwaved so major equipment wasnt necessary either...and accd to our annual pool budget report they made TONS of $$!There are plenty of pools to talk to if we wanted to get ideas and it sounds like enough people are intersted that maybe a small group would be willing to look into it...and yes, I am volunteering.

    Im not sure how the guest passes actually work, so I only have a small understanding(which could be wrong), but is there any way to tie member pool passes to the HOA dues so that if you wne over your alloted guests it would automatically charge your hoa account?

    More shade would be nice. Fix the diving board step at the SW pool.

    But I am torn about the snack bar idea. On one hand it might be good for the kids in the area(although there are plenty of other places looking fo help in the summer) and I am concernded about whether it would increase the code oranges we have had so many times.
