Does anyone know of good driving schools? I need to get my son in the behind the wheel training, but the school is booked until late spring. So I guess we'll have to go private.

    Thanks for any info.

I have the same problem. I signed my son up in July, but the person at the school that helped me couldn't tell me how long a wait it would be. Anyway I am currently trying to find out how long a wait it will be for him, but the owner of this program, Mrs. Vierkorn, has not gotten back to me yet. I went to the DMV web site and they have listings. I called the ones in Ashburn, and they all seem to be in the $250.00 range vs. I believe $130.00 for the school program. At the school it seems like there's to many students, and not enough instructors.

I guess both our sons go to Briar Woods, huh? Ms. Vierkorn is the teaching instructor there. The funny thing is, they cashed the check immediately, even though my son won't be doing the driving until many months later. I'm asking that they give me a refund so I can do the private class.

I grew up in Falls Church area but I used Keith;s Driving School. I took it for manual not automatic. Very easy course and great instructors. Not sure if they come out here or not

Yes....Briar Woods. I'm more than likely going to be asking for a refund also. Unfortunately, it's going to cost more than double going to a private instructor.

Yes, it is definately worth it. My daughter had to go through private training for both the written and driving parts, because where we were in TX, the schools didn't even teach the subject. Even when my son gets his license, there will be limits set on where and when he can drive.

Remember, you're responsible for teaching 40 hours of driving (driving schools can do that but it's even more expensive). I've found that the 10 driving courses are almost more of an evaluation to make sure the students are ready to be on the road. We used AA Driving Academy and they were very easy to fit into marching band and sports schedules.

Well I didnt mean it like that. It was easy because they picked me up from school and the instructors were very easy going and well spoken

Yes, I know. We're doing this right now. I'm fortunate, my son isn't in too much of a hurry to get his license.
