Did anyone else have the doorbell ring this evening (7:15pm) and open the door to find a bagful of Harris Teeter products awaiting you? Included was a note, "Dear Very Important Customer...Sincerely; Charles Jury Store Manager."

Nice bag of Harris Teeter products, but very odd.

No, but I did hear a police report of criminals passing out poisoned foods in ashburn yesterday impersonating a grocery store. I'm not sure if they could be linked.

That's the kind of information that I'm looking for...the bag is still on my counter. I am super hesitant to eat something left on my porch at night. I'll call the store.

Yesterday there was a Harris Teeter truck in the area distributing canvas bags with various products.

We got one too. There was a man and a woman (in Teeter apparal) driving around putting them on peoples stoops. But not all - maybe only to VIQ members?

I agree it was nice but very random.

The Harris Teeter Manager on Duty said yes they distributed the bags. He said he hopes we visit again.

When the HT first opened in Brambleton they had some specials where if you spent a certain amount per week over a number of weeks they had different things to give you. I think they were struggling early on to get business as Brambleton wasn't as built up yet and they didn't have the customer base they do now so had trouble getting enough people to meet the requirements to get the free things. One day an HT employee was going through our neighborhood giving out the items that they had in stock (we got a picnic basket set and a nice portable grill) and inviting people to shop there.

Yes we got one too and we sampled the peanuts and the cookies...happy to say we are all still alive the AM...Honestly, I never would have even thought some one was trying to poison me or that some evil force other than HT would have distributed them...has society become just a little too paranoid???

what is really sad is how the people here kvetch and moan about any business in the area that tries to promote itself.

With all the grocery store choices in Ashburn, I'm really surprised some haven't closed down. They all need to drum up more business and will do whatever it takes. I'm always getting coupons from Giant and Harris Teeter for 5 or 10% off if you spend at least $50.00

    I had a $20 off $40 coupon from HT! That's 50% off

However, their brand selection really rubs me at times. yes, they have all these other wonderful non-mainstream things... at the expense of having all the mainstream stuff!

We too recieved the bag with HT products and a letter from the manger in a nice HT shopping bag. We give them credit for doing this. The Supermarket -coupons and deals - wars are great! This did surpise us.

I totally agree. My post (the second one on this thread) was totally tongue in cheek. I got one was not suspicious at all, and enjoyed some of the contents (esp. the bag itself). I do worry about over saturation here in the grocery industry. I always say that crime rates are way lower than when we were children, but sadly people believe otherwise.

While we're on the subject of HT--I have to give a thumbs up to their on-line shopping. Its awesome. I keep a cart on-line and the day I'm ready to pick up I order it and swing through the drive thru. Absoultely great and what a time-saver. Way to go HT!!
