I know that the questions has been asked multiple times - below are a few estimates from various hardwood floor vendors:

Scope: Hardwood install of Bruce Micro Bevel Cherry 2" 3/4 plank & Solid Tread/Risers and quarter round for the following areas (of Cedarwood Model)
Main Staircase, Upper/Bedroom Level Hallway, Family Room, Master Bedroom, Sitting room and 2 walk in closets

    Image Flooring: $13,970
    K & K Floors: (recommendation from Brambelton friend): $11,500 - Reduced after negotiating w/ owner $ 9,750
    Abbey Carpet: $11,570
    CarpetMan: $12,390

We went w/ K & K Floors based on reputation and revised pricing. Last week they Installed the stair case, hallway and family in 1 day. We had 1 issue with a tread and they are scheduled next week to correct the issue.

All said in done, we are very pleased with K & K and cant wait to start phase II of our project. I hope this helps those of you who are looking into hardwood flooring vendors.

We used K&K a couple of years ago. They removed the carpet and vinyl from our kitchen and living room and installed the Bruce flooring. They did a great job, were prompt, professional, neat, and had the best price.

    Highly recommended!

K & K Floors - Main POC is Mr. Cho (I believe he is a principal owner of the company)
    Office 703-449-7900
    Cell 703-508-0198

    sales@kkfloors.com

Again HIGHLY recommend Mr. Cho @ K & K Floors - they are getting ready to install more hardwood (Bruce Micro Bevel) in our MBD/Sitting room, 3 additional BR . FWIW They matched the builder installed floors perfectly.

I was getting ready to pull the trigger with The Carpet Man (CMI) over by Scan in Dulles and read an unsavory review about him being full of bull. Can anyone help? We're going to pull up carpet and tile and put in hardwoods. A big and expensive job I don't want to blow.....

What happened? I have a friend who was really happy, but had different things done than what I want, so I don't know. I'm putting in hard wood and some granite shelving. You mean the Carpet Man (CMI designs) in Dulles and Sterling. Any advice is appreciated.
    Thanks:confused:

It took over a year to resolve the inapet installation of our basement carpet, stairwell and pergo floating floor (for the bar area). We called and called...appointments made and no show - from a female's point of view I felt VERY uncomfortable having Nadeem here w/o my hubby. Some off-handed remarks.

Our realtor recommended Nadeem in 2004 and no longer has them listed as a vendor of choice - since then we have installed granite & hardwood - each time we gave Nadeem (CMI) a chance to bid and each time his prices came in SKY high. For granite we used USA Marble (based on other recommendations from this forum) and K & K.

FWIW - everyone will have an experience - in the end as a consumer you need to make the decision and listen to your gut. If something doesnt feel right think about it before you enter into an agreement with a contractor. I wish that I had followed my own advice with CMI in 2005.

I appreciate your candor, you never know with some of these guys. It's difficult when you are going to spend a lot of money for something so permanent. I did meet with K&K today and found Mr. Cho extremely pleasant and knowledgable. We'll see what happens!
Thanks again. This is a nice resource.

So much for K&K. Set up an appointment with them for 6 PM today. Changed my schedule so I could be here. They never showed for the estimate, never even called.
Anybody ever use JJ Hardwood Floors or M&M Floors, Inc in Manassas?

I would give K&K another try. Ask specifically for Mr. Cho. I am currently working with him to match an unusual floor that I already have and he has shopped many different distributors to find it for me. He has finally found it and has been working with me for 3 weeks. The first two, he brought samples out and ordered me a box of wood that I didn't end up going --allwith prior to me giving him any money. I haven't heard of the other companies. Good luck, it's a pain in the neck:)

Yikes - sorry to hear this about K & K. We did not have this issue with Mr. Cho or any other member of K & K - which is why I recommended them.

They kept all of their appointments and did an excellent job with the install of our various projects.

We plan on bringing them back out for our MBath remodel. Again sorry to hear they missed the appt.

Best of luck with you in searching for an alternative vendor and please post your new resource.

I called K&K and Mr. Cho says he honestly forgot. I gave him the benefit of the doubt. He showed on time (the next night), was very imformative and his estimate was pretty good. I'm going to get one more estimate to make sure, but it was worth giving him another chance.

Met up with Mr. Cho from K&K. He gave me a great estimate and completed the work on the day we agreed on and was done in one day.

Also, there was one landing I wasn't happy with. They came back 3 days later, at my convenience, a re-did the entire landing. It looks good, his guys were nice and polite and cleaned up well. Overall, great marks for K&K, I would use them again without hesitation!
